Default New At Ww Got A Question?

Hi
I am new to the weight watchers points. And am having some trouble losing. The last two weeks I have had a gain. I know last week I was picking alot. So this week I have been writing down everything I put in my mouth. I got on the scales this morning. And they are up 2 lbs. I am getting really upset. So not sure what is going on. I weigh in tomorrow.

But I do have a question. This lady has been doing weight watchers for awhile now. The week before she had a slight gain a couple of lbs. But this week she lost 10 lbs. How can that be. She said all she did was count points. I thought yeah I counting points too and gaining. So if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them. Thanks for listening.

I don't know how much I have to add, I wish I had all the answers. The program has worked well for me and I am down 31 pounds. I gained last 2.4 pounds last week and I did not deviate from program even once and I exercised 5 days (for a total of 20 points). But I also know that my body does this to me. I will lose 0.2 pounds, then 0.4 pounds, and then I'll drop 7 the next week. So week to week I may not lose alot, or last week I even gained, but I notice changes in my face and clothes and know that if I stick through the "slow" weeks, I will eventually catch up.

Also make sure that you are trying to get in your five fruits and vegetables, and drinking the water, and as much as stinks, exercise.

It's a good program, and I know it sucks when the weight doesn't come off as fast as you'd like. But it does come off if you stick with it. Good luck.

1) Where in your points range are you eating? Most people find they lose better when eating mid-range to high-range. Especially if you are exercising you need to eat toward the high end and not the low end. The reason is because your body thinks it is starving and slows down your metabolism and holds on to the calories you intake.

2) What are you spending your points on? Review the POINTSPIES (Also make sure you get in some REAL fat (butter, margarine, mayo, real salad dressing, etc). I had subconsciously removed almost all fat from my diet and had plateaued for SIX (count them 6) months. Make sure you get in some fat.

3) Are you drinking your water?

4) Are you eating alot of processed foods (canned, frozen, etc.) which contain alot of sodium which causes water retention. What about diet sodas? They can cause bloating and water rentention.

5) Are you exercising? Have you taken your measurements to see if you are building muscle while losing? Remember muscle weighs 2.2 times more than fat volume for volume (this means for a 3”x3” piece of muscle and a 3”x3” piece of fat the muscle will be 2.2 times heavier). If you are exercising remember to eat high in your point range.

6) Are you journaling? This includes every BLT (bite, lick and taste). Those BLTs can add up in 'hidden' points. My leader suggested for each BLT or freebie to put a tick mark in your journal and for each 4-5 add 1 point to your day.

7) Are you calculating points correctly? Ninety percent of new members don't count points correctly. I have a favorite muffin and until last week (I've been on program for almost 2 years) I just realized my 3 point muffin is really 6 points because it is 2 servings. Make sure you use the nutritional information rather than the 'generic' list W/W puts out. You'll find alot of differences.

It is impossible to lose that much in fat in 1 week because you'd have to be negative in the calories you take in and what you expend. Much of that is a water weight loss.

Look at what I posted and answer them honestly...usually you'll find your answer. If you are doing every 100% and gaining check with your doctor.

Default Thanks For Replying

Hi
Thank you for replying. I weigh in this evening so will see how I did this week. My leader told me last week to write down everything I put in my mouth. And bring her my booklet with it in. So will see where I am going wrong. I do try to stay on the low end of my points. Dont do much excersing yet. But have started walking some. I do get all my water in. Most days I drink 3 32oz bottles of water. But there are some days I dont. Especially if I have to run around alot. Hubby has alot of Dr appt. So on those days I dont get in as much water as I like. So I am hoping for a loss this week. But will find out later on.
Again thank you for replying. And have a wonderful day.

This may very well be why. I eat each and every point I am entitled to. I actually at 14 more points a week than W/W suggests (I eat 1 target range higher than my weight indicates).

Some of this may also be your "cycle." I don't know how old you are or where you are in your "cycle", but I will sometimes go 2-3 weeks prior to my period w/o losing and even gaining, you know, .5 down, 1 lb. up, .5 down, then boom, right after my period, down 3-4 lbs. I've been on WW for 10 months now and I've just found this pattern with me. I've lost 54 lbs. total. (I'm down to the weight I was 4 1/2 years ago when I got married. I still have a lot more to lose) So, it works. Don't get discouraged. It's easy to do (get discouraged, that is). Remember, you didn't get where you are overnight and your not going to lose it overnight. This is not a quick fix but a permanent solution.

Good luck and let us know how you did. We're here for you.

Default I Lost!!

Hi Everyone
Sorry I havent been on here sooner. But just been busy. But I did lose 2 1/2 lbs friday. The lady that is doing our meeting. Looked over my quick track. Said I am not really eating enough. I had only 2 days were I got in all my points. So I have to keep track of everything again this week. So hopefully that will help.

AMCAP74 I know about the cycle thing. Been having trouble with that. Wonder if I could be starting the change. Congrats on the loss. That is wonderful.

KELLY_S I am trying to keep track of everything I put in my mouth. But then again. Sometimes I think oh one bite wont hurt. But as you said they soon add up. So am trying to control that. But I know at times I just feel so hungry. So maybe because I wasnt eating enough points that is why I wanted to pick. But today our son took us out to eat. The local Lions club was having a spaghetti dinner. So not sure how to count points. But just feel hungry now. But am afraid if I eat something I will go over my points. So not sure what to do. I guess I will learn how and what to do.
Thank you for all your help and info.

I hope you have had a wonderful day.
