My dietician recommends at least 25 to 30 grams of fat a day because you need that much to utilize the nutrients in your food. By the way I am a controlled Type II diabetic and got that way on the South Beach Diet eating GOOD carbs. Check out the South Beach Forum.
I use fitday to track my carbs, calories and fat and keep the fat 25 to 40 grams and the carbs 80-120 with calories around 1400. Works for me.
