Talking Goals & Rewards

Well... I am finally starting to feel a little better. Still some nausea but I truly think it is hunger pains. They hit about every 3-4 hours and progress till I eat something. Still working on that. But here is the reason for my post.

"My" goal weight is 200 pounds. That is basically a 220 pound weight loss. I would be happy at 220 but am targetting 200. As a reward for hitting my goal weight, my wife and I have agreed to SCUBA lessons and a trip to celebrate.

We plan to take the local lessons for classroom work and pool portion this winter as I lose more weight and plan a trip to Grand Cayman or similar for the open water certification dives.

We started talking about learning to dive when we returned from Hawaii on our honeymoon, 22 years ago. I think its time we did something about it. Don't you? My back is fixed (fused) and my weight will be gone. We are hoping for next year...

Do any of you have goals and rewards set up? Have you made it yet?

We are going to either the Bahamas or Mexico next spring. I can't wait to go somewhere beach-y and feel unselfconscious in a bathing suit. We were in the Bahamas on our honeymoon (it will be 24 years later when we go again) and I can't wait to go back. I'm hoping I will have shed all my weight by then and be a bathing beauty, even if I have loose skin and a hanging tummy!

I didn't tell my son about me having this surgery until the day before, I didn't want him to worry too much too soon, and a friend suggested that we set up something positive for him/us to look forward to. So, we decided that as soon as I can tolerate a car ride for longer than 1 hour and I can walk for longer than 20 minutes (which will hopefully be soon!) That we will all go to the poconos for a long weekend. We also are planning a trip to Disney World next fall, and I will hopefully be able to ride all the rides with them this time and not stand and watch.
