are either allowed? the jerky I bought doesn't have any carbs and 1/2 gram of fat and 13g protein. The last 2 days I ate 2 TB of Simply Jiff as dessert or snack thinking I was ok, but then today I realized that it's supposed to be natural peanut butter! And now I'm snacking on jerky....???
Hey, keep it simple. There are healthy things to snack on.
Please list the ingredients, rather than the nutritional analysis, of the jerky. I am always suspicious of processed meats. This came from another board

.....processed meat can include some gruesome ingredients, including gristle, eyelid, skin and cheek.
I have natural almond butter. There literally is no other ingredient besides almonds. I am pretty sure this is allowed but I am not quite sure on the portion size. Should I go by regular peanut butter?
By the way, I didn't think I'd like it, but it is delicious!!
Hi, Lizziness. Same size serving as peanut butter. I must make some of that as I have lots of almonds. I think I'll do it with the skins on as that will make it brown.
I use almond butter too. I love making a PB cup with almond butter instead. I sprinkle a little almond extract on the cool whip (or amaretto syrup) when I do that and it makes for a really decadent dessert!
The Good Fats, Good Carbs Guide (which I really recommend) has a huge list of nut butters we can try. (below) Cooking Light also did a whole piece on using nut butters in an issue earlier this year. Check out their website at www.cookinglight.com for the recipes.
almond butter
cashew butter
hazelnut butter
peanut butter (natural, no added sugar), also red. fat natural
The beef jerky doesn't list any ingredients like that. It only has about 4 ingredients, the first 2 are beef and brown sugar. I don't know what the other ones are. So do you think it's ok? It sure was a good snack!
Not OK if brown sugar was the second ingredient. You do not have a whole lot to lose and it definitely will affect your rate of loss. Try pistachios or veggies for snacks.
