Default Sugar Free Syrups

So, I bought five bottles of Davinci sugar free syrup (Strawberry, Blueberry, Irish Cream, Hazlenut and Caramel). But I seem to be allergic to something in them. I made my boyfriend and sister try them to see if there was something wrong or whatever, but both have had no allergic reaction, so I have no idea what it might be. (Well, no reaction other than the fact that neither of them are up with the whole non-sugar thing, and they don't get why I wouldn't want to use the full-sugar syrups. Sigh. Some people just don't get it. hehe)

Has anyone else had a problem like this? I'm not sure what to do with them now -- they're all virtually full. I'd even sell them if someone wanted to buy them!

Michelle -- it gave me the same symptoms as Sugar Alcohol give a lot of people (intestinal distress, let's put it that way!) Also, a slight rash on my face.

The weird thing is, I don't get a reaction from sugar alcohols! I can't explain it at all.

Hmmm how wierd!! Did you try it again today and perhaps see if maybe it was something else that was making you feel bad. Thats what I would do just to make sure.

If you do try them again you might want to make sure that you have some Benedryl available first. If it is a true allergic reaction, then it could get worse with every exposure. I don't have a problem with foods but if I take Sulfa drugs I break out in hives and my throat swells.

Which flavor did you have the problem with? Maybe it was a allergy to one of the flavorings?

Michelle Rae... it wasn't just once that I've tried them -- it's been a few times, unfortunately. At first I thought it was something else, but now it's pretty clear that it's the syrup.

And, Barb, I never thought about Benadryl... but it was all five flavours. I've tried them at different times in different recipes or whatever.

I'm so sad!

At the risk of sounding like your mother, you are probably better of sticking to unprocessed foods anyway.

I might be tempted to buy them from you if you live in my area.
