Default Thursday On The Beach - July 15

Good morning, Beach Buddies. It looks like we are in for another gloomy day when it looks like rain but doesn't happen.

The 3 Bills sure were on my shitlist by the time they finally showed at 3 PM yesterday. They worked until eight and promise they'll be back "first thing" this morning. The DR windows are finished and they even vacuumed in there! Harry and I went out for dinner to the Long Horn so I missed the lovely sight of seeing men vacuuming!

Sarah comes this morning. If it's too wet to work in the garden, I'll have her do stuff in the house like mix dogfood and start organizing the basement. Jane comes at noon for my "break". I've not decided what I'll be doing yet but I may work on some Fair stuff for tomorrow's judging - um, I will DEFINITELY do that. Time goes so fast these days!

What's happening with you today?

Hi, Ruth!
The weather is CRAPPY. It's going to rain for the next three days, and it's heading down your way. Look out.
My house is damp and sticky.
I'm tempted to hang out my laundry and leave it there until Sunday.
Aside from yoga this evening, I think (knock on wood) I've got a free day. Don't anyone call me.

How is everyone?
Clovey, you're about to post at the very same time as me.

Good morning, Ruth and Ellis and all you Chicks on your way in~~

Today is dh's birthday. Just one year away from the big Five-Oh. Since he's not really into pie crust, I'm making him a pumpkin custard and will reserve some for me and sweeten it with Splenda.

He gets the packing in his ear canal out today and a hearing test will show how much he's improved with surgery. I tell you, if it didn't get any better than it is right now, I'd still be thrilled to death.

With me, it seems to be one thing or another. Yesterday afternoon, I developed an earache. I'm hoping it's not going to turn into an ear infection. The odd part is that it made my scalp hurt. What is that all about? RNMOM, any ideas?

Ruth, what kind of "stuff" are you having judged at the fair? I've always wanted to do something like that, but Southerners take county fairs so seriously, that "outsiders" are NOT welcome.

Ellis, sorry you're having crappy weather. We had a few exciting hours here last night, tornado warnings for the next county over and severe T Storms for us.

Not much else going on down here. Wish I was around during the day to reply to all the posts.

You all have a great day on the Beach

Mamacita

Mamacita, the "stuff" I'm in charge of is the schoolwork entries. During the school year, the children make things that are then entered for the Fair. prizes are tiny - $5, $4 and $3 - but the kids get a great kick out of seeing their "artwork" on display with a ribbon! This year we had 428 children submit work - some of them 3 to 5 pieces - so the judging will be lengthy. And then we have to find room to display the stuff! A former teacher is doing judging and I don't envy her. Here's the URL of the website from last year. This year it did not get updated but it'll give you an idea. www.deltafair.com

Ellis, it is really wet out there but not raining at the moment. Poop! Sarah will be able to do a few things out there but my weedy veggie garden will not be on the doable list! My house smells of wet dog, sawdust and window caulking! I think I'll run away!

Harry's up so I'd better go.

Morning chickies!

DD decided to get up at 6:20 this morning which scraps my few morning "mommy" minutes.

Ellis It rained for almost 3 straight weeks here in Dallas. IT was gloomy! May the sun shine on you soon!!

Ruth That is a lot of artwork to judge! Have fun. Hope they complete your work today on your house.

Mama Best wishes to DH at his appointment!

The Ginger Chicken was really good last night! Barb DD ate it with ketchup, I thought of you! My next new recipe to try is the Beef Kabobs with Peanut Sauce- I want to wait until DH is home b/c he loves peanut sauce.

Brunch with my teaching team today at 11:00. The only OP food will be a spinach salad, so I plan to eat that and not partake in the other goodies. I have one more pound to lose of vacation gain and I will be back down to 160. It is going to take some serious work to make my July goal of 155. YIKES!

I plan to spend the afternoon in my classroom- have spent ZERO time there this summer, so need to attempt to get into a school frame of mind.

Have a great day ladies!

Good morning ladies......I hate to say it, but it's a beautiful day here. Only supposed to get up to 84 here. Pretty uneventful day ahead of me. Probably work on my 2005 budget for work ....always a joy. Will start getting things ready for the beach tonight....cook and do some laundry.

I had better go jump in the shower then gag down an egg. Have a great day everyone.

morning beach babes!!
well i got the hotel thing all fixed up so dh and i won't have to sleep in the car when we go to the nascar race. (thank goodness) another baseball game tonight not sure if i can take anymore, they are really fun to watch but this is like 7 days in a row i think so i am slightly exhausted!!! i didn't want to get up this morning at all. i turned off the alarm and fell back to sleep so i was a little late getting to work and i have no makeup on i brought it with me so as soon as i finish my coffee i will try and fix myself up a bit.

despite the daily baseball games i have done ok staying op (not really south beach op) but i'm not eating like a crazed junk food addict. i was at an all time low of 235 this am on the scale, so glad to see the darn thing move i started to think i needed new batteries.

ruth- hmmm 3 cute bills that run the sweeper?? i might of stayed home to see that!!! good luck with the judging thats alot of art!!! here's an idea maybe the winning artist can do your "window treatments" could you see it??

ellis- a free day??? what is that??? enjoy it!! and to top it off relaxing yoga to top it off?? i'm thinking i need to adopt a different schedule here. have a great day!!

mama good luck with dh at the doc's. the custard sounds yummy!!

hi shequila!!! glad to see you joined in!!

kiko- don't work too hard at the school stuff!! good luck staying op today!!

hello to all you other beach beauties!! have a great day

Goooooooooooood Morning!

Should be a nice day here in the midwest. Lookin at 83 and 30% chance of rain today. Not looking forward to going to work. Getting audited at Job #1 today, then have to go straight to Job #2 at 6:30. Same thing tomorrow, only I have to be at Job #1 at 8:30 tomorrow instead of 9:30. Whew. At least I have Saturday and Sunday off!

Starting the day a bit nauseous. I feel like I have a weird smell up my nose or something. Don't really know what it is.....makes me think of glue. Had some really crazy dreams that were upsetting at the time, last night. Maybe just queasy still from those.

Hope you all have a fabulous day!

Morning, gals! I've just got a few minutes as I have a meeting with my manager in a bit. My team leader and another coworker are on vacation this week so I am covering for both of them.

Weather predicts to be 100 today. Hot! Last night was Taco Bake and today is Red Snapper Courtboillon. My DH loves anything with tomatoes. Too bad DS won't eat fish other than fish sticks.

Kiko - the last time I tried the Beef Kabobs we skipped the peanut sauce and just added the ginger to the marinade. I loved it that way but DH wants the peanut sauce back. I love to vary recipes and see what works. I have notes all over my recipes of the variations we try. This time I served the beef Kabobs with microwaved sweet potato and green beans. Oh and I added mushrooms to the Kabobs. Yummy!

Hey, weezle. Are you eating some carbs - like beans? If not, you may be in ketosis and we don't want that on this plan. That could account for the smell. On the other hand were you sniffing glue?

Morning ladies!!

Thought I would take my first plunge into the daily chit-chat. Its very humid in SE Michigan today. The kind of day where it is sunny and 80 one minute and then black and stormy the next. Rain will help the organic garden though, being away it got a little parched.

Anyone know anything about blanching and freezing snow and snap peas?

Today is my first day truly back OP. Phase 2 with a lot of Phase 1 elements carried over. This weekend will be a challenge with 2 parties to get through.

Glad to be back on the beach!

Do a Google on food preservation. I'm sure there's lots of good info out there. I have never been satisfied with home-frozen produce.

Hey, weezle! Good to finally see another Illinoisian here! Did those big storms that came through Tuesday hit Springfield? It was looking a little scary here. I grew up in Peoria, and I now live in Normal. You're right, the weather is awesome today. Very happy about it, too, b/c it is the first day of vacation for me and our 4th wedding anniversary. We're leaving tomorrow to go camping down around Lake Shelbyville for a week, so I won't be checking in here so much for a bit.

I'm hoping to stay mostly OP while on vacation. I'll have to have some hot dogs at some point cuz there's not much point to camping if you can't roast hot dogs at least once, right? It's gonna drive me nuts not to be able to weigh on Wednesday, though!

Well I hope I'm not in ketosis. I've had no beans, although I love refried beans. I just don't think I can have them in Phase 1, can I? Since they're pinto?

I have had TONS of veggies, boca and morningstar "meat," eggs, cheese, etc. I had a decadent brownie last night, and I've had the peanutbutter cup thing, too. Mmmm. Self-control is an issue! No sniffing of the glue....I'd probably feel a bit better if that were the case

It also could be that I'm allergic to spring, summer, and fall, here in Springfield.
I am awfully nasal today, so it could just be a lot of snot that I'm smelling. (Hope nobody's eating breakfast while reading this....) It's not as bad as it was eary this morning, so I think I'm okay! If it gets worse, I'll let ya know!

Thanks!
