Default Ahhhh....so I've done it finally!

Hey guys..Well I finally decided to search this amazing web for a support forum for weight loss...Actually my sister gave me the idea so she deserves the credit
I'm 25years old..and From Australia...Any other Aussies here?
Anyways, just looking for a little support and healthy tips for weightloss. I have set goals and am now working on reaching them. I guess I'm a little excited about finally deciding to do this...A little anxious aswell.

but proud all the same!

Hi Scorch.
Well I'm wanting to lose 27 Kilograms (59.5 pounds) by 25th December this year! (Yeah the Big Family Christmas Party goal =P)
Which equals out to be 1.14kg (2.5 pounds) per week and when it's broken down like that, it's pretty doable.

Once I reach that goal, I'll set some others...But thats the main focus now.

Hi Pray.
Thanks for the welcome
I'm not actually following any plan right now, there's so many to choose from it's overwhelming
I'm just taking notes from different areas of diets and healthy food groups and adding them into my daily diet...
Should I be following a plan?
I read somewhere last night that cutting out Carbs is very unhealthy...Then I read somewhere else that Low/No Carb diets are the best and safest diets around...
Lol it's a little confusing sometimes!

Good Morning Jiggles! There is so much conflicting reports out there. I think that cutting out carbs is not healthy, too much protein is not good for liver and kidneys. I cannot live with out carbs. No, you do not have to follow a plan to lose weight, just eat everything in moderation. Keep things as healthy as possible and you should be ok. Have a blessed day. Will catch you tonight. GOd Bless

Thanks Pray.
Yeah I'm a bit of a need everything junkie. I like bits and pieces from all the food groups and I honestly think I'd fail if I tried to stick to one only or cut one out completely. I mean right now what I'm doing seems to be working, so until it stops I'll just go with it!
Have a good day.

Hello Jiggles. I tried doing the South Beach diet and for 2 weeks you get NO carbs, well by the end of the first week I was a nut case, I just had to have carbs, so I know for sure that I am not able to do with out any food group. Hubby and I eat what we want try and keep it healty, but every thing we eat we try and do it with moderation. We usually eat only when hungry, eat only a clenched fist of food because that is the size of your stomach when shrunk to it's normal size and we try and eat slowly and take small bites. Anyway will check with you tomorrow. God Bless

I just found this site tonight and I am so inspired. Jiggles, you and I are looking to loose the same amount in the same time frame. I'd be happy to keep in touch and support each other. I am not following a "plan" because I know I won't follow one forever. I am trying to eat smaller portions (especially of pasta and rice), choose more salad and and vegetables and giving myself "dessert night" once a week. I make sure I eat breakfast every day. I am also drinking copious amounts of water and starting to exercise (walking, gardening and bike riding). I am keeping a small journal - noting my weight and how the day went. I have lost 4.5 lbs since June 23rd.

One great thing I have found is a carrot salad recipe that I can "binge" on (fill the hungry spot in between meals). It is just grated carrots, a grated apple, a handful of raisins and some lemon juice. I make a batch and keep it in the fridge. It is yummy and the apple makes it sweet.

Pray, yeah I don't think I could follow a no carb diet...I mean I love them way to much! You're plan sounds good though
Mompen, thankyou for the welcome.
alstromeria - I'd love to keep in touch, that little reciepe sounds delish! I've also up'd my water intake cause I never use to drink enough. I have started exercising aswell. (bike, walking and aerobics) But I've had to cut the morning walks out temporarily cause it's middle of winter here at the moment and I have a bad flu, and my 6:30am walks have made it so much worse when it's -5 outside! So I'm waiting til I get over the flu to resume the walking.
I'm eating alot more fish and chicken and straying away from my red meats which I LOVE with a passion. And I've started grilling everything instead of frying. One thing I do love is fresh tossed salad, so even though it's the middle of winter I'm getting back into those!
Take care - my messengers are available, if you have aim or yahoo I'd love to hear from you.

Good evening everyone. Mompen nice to see a fellow Louisianian on the site. Jiggles take care of your health, the flu can get pretty nasty. We do not get winters that cold over here, which is fine with me since I do not like cold weather, and mompen can tell you that our summers are HOT! Today the heat index was at least 107, which is why hubby and I walk at 4:30 am while it's still dark, but we still sweat alot. Hope you feel better, and hang in there. God Bless.

Kam! Wow hun you've done so well so far! If thats not inspiration I don't know what is!
Good luck aswell! Thanks for the welcome

Pray..Morning hun, yeah it does get cold here..Which most people don't realise about Australia! lol I can't wait for summer here, or atleast some warmer weather. I'm nursing the flu well thanks I'm still keeping up with Aerobics but even that is making me really breathless with this bloody flu so I've had to stop half way through sometimes but it's ok cause I do as much as I can then have a break and come back a little later and do some more. Atleast I'm still moving about! haha.
Thanks guys.

Hello Jiggles. Glad you are taking care of yourself. Keep it up. Hubby and I have to weigh in tomorrow, hope we do well. We celebrated his birthday last week a little too good, so if we lose what we have gained for that then I will be happy. Anyway have a wonderful evening. God Bless.
