Default Confused and angry!

Hi there!
I've just weighed myself and i'm so disappointed...The last time I took note of my weight was on the 27th of may. Today 3 weeks after I've lost only 150 grams. I'm so angry.I was expecting 2 ou 3 pounds less. Everyone was making compliments about how good I was starting to look: my boyfriend, my family, even I was seeing some differences (less butt, less tummy) but in the scale nothing...It was an illusion...I'm so sad. What do you think?I'm not doing exercise, only one hour of body pump last week so it couldn't be muscle gain...and I suppose that fat just don't go away and the scale stays the same...I think I'm going to cry...I'm fat, I'm still fat, I dont deserve more because I'm not making enough effort...In 2 months I've only lost 4 pounds...shame!

Breathe, Maat!

If people are saying you've look like you have lost weight then it can't be an illusion. You've lost 5 lbs in 2 months that's good! Weight loss comes off slowly, and it should come off slow to be a healthy loss. What are you eating? Are you following a specific diet e.g. Atkins? Tell us what your diet is and what you are eating and we'll be able to help you more . As for exercise, well once a week probably is not sufficient to encourage weight loss. Does your lifestyle allow you to up the exercise to maybe 3 times a week? Start slowly, you don't want to overdo it and hurt yourself. Do you go to a gym? Can you go to a gym? Any areas in your neighborhood where you can walk? What are your options? When I first started I walked for 30 minutes, then 45, then an hour.

Don't be sad! You can do it. And **** yes you DO deserve it because you ARE making an effort already.

Hun, you can't just go by weight. Our bodies are funny and inconsistant things. How are you feeling? How are your clothes fitting? Are you able to do things that you weren't able to do before? Are you stronger? Healthier?

There are so many measures of success, that you're cheating yourself by just focusing on one.

Nope, it don't just go away. I had an experience similar to yours--I thought I was doing everything "right," but I wasn't following a plan, wasn't exercising consistently, was letting a few things just slip into my mouth like they didn't matter, and guess what. I didn't lose weight. Or I would lose a little, gain a little, lose a little, etc. So I can really tell where you're coming from. My anger at the situation is what made me finally give up my ideas that I knew how to do this and start on a planned weight loss program. Evidently I need structure in what I eat and when. But don't give up! You can do it, and you can reach that goal! Hang in there!

Hi and thanks for the replies girls!
Answering your questions:i'm trying the Change One Diet by Reader's Digest. It's about 1300 cal a day, focus on getting enought calories and nutrients, I eat everything: carbs, proteins even a little fat. It teaches us how to count calories and to choose the healthier options, and even if we want to eat junk food to do that but not abusing. My biggest problem was the right size of portions as I was used to eat large portions.. I'm just trying to lose the healthy way.I'm 19 years old so I try to eat the right food as I'm still growing up (kind of, lol, I'm 5'0'' since I'm 14 ) Sometimes I just have the urge to eat junk food or bad things, yes I know, shame on me.I'm going to the gym this month, doing 2 hours a week, one of body pump, one of body combat...beginning slowly.I'm a full time student and I don't have a lot of spare time, I'm always studying and in June and July: EXAMS! Well my clothes are fitting better, yes...I felt that the weight test was important to measure my success...and so I felt so sad and disappointed. Now reading your posts I've realised I'm being a bit stupid
Thank you so much for oppening my eyes....
I would truely appreciate if you could analyse my diet, a typical day goes like this:

Breakfast
1 cup skim milk + 1 cup bran flakes enriched ones

snack: cereal bar or a small non fat yogurt

Lunch:
1 cup spaghetti
4 oz grilled turkey
Salad with low fat dressing
1 apple

or sandwich with cheese, lettuce, ham, tomato, 1 tbsp of ketchup + Salad with low fat dressing + 1 banana (another example)

Snack: a fruit with non fat yogurt

Dinner:
1 cup white rice
1/2 can of tuna in water
Salad with low fat dressing

or

1 cup of vegetables soup
corn+tomato+lettuce+apple+cheese+tuna+salad dressing (a more complete salad)
1 fruit

Snack

1 cup of slim milk

What do you think?
Thanks thanks thanks thanks so much!!

*Hugs*

oh honey. you're tiny!!!! and the smaller a person is, the slower the weight loss. it's an unfortunate fact of life.

now, haviing said that... GET MOVING. walk. ANYTHING. it doesn't have to be in the gym. some folks around here are getting pedometers and trying to log 10,000 steps. yes, it's hard when you're a student, but it's also hard when you're working, or if you have children, or just LIVING. we ALL have to fit this in, and it's not easy. but darlin... if WE can do it, YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

and we're here for you.... honest!!!!!

Heya,

If you have a dvd player at all or tv/video I find that exercise dvds are good for fitting in when you are a busy student. Anyway dieting isn't really about weight it's about being healthier and looking better, I'd be happy to weigh a lot more if I could look good in jeans Also it could be that your weight has gone down but you were just wearing heavier clothes/had eaten more recently than the first time you weighed yourself.

Good luck in your exams

Dill

Hey! You're doing great. Your diet plan sounds good, although it might be a bit too heavy on carbs and light on protein, especially if you are doing muscle-building activities. Also, don't deviate from it! Even if you have cravings! (I know, easier said . . . ) I agree with what others have posted--get moving more, take a walk every day. Exercise doesn't have to be super strenuous to work. You'll do it, hang in there!
