Pookie! We're soooo glad to finally hear from you, though it's been a rotten week for you indeed, chickie. I'm so very sorry to hear about your hernia but you're very wise to put your health first now and do whatever you need to do to get as healthy as possible. I hope you're feeling a little better now that you're home -- hospitals are no fun at all, eh?
Great news about your sis! You take care of yourself and let us know what your docs decide to do. I know that no matter what they decide, you're going to do wonderfully. And just think of the fun you and your sis will have shopping together for all those new clothes!
PS -- I don't think you're the nuttiest fruitcake here -- more like the sweetest.
Hi Pookie,
Glad to see you back and sorry to hear what a trauma the week has been. When the choices are obvious or beyond our control, you just gotta go with what you can do to make life better for yourself.
Take care,
Mel
oh babycakes!!! you've had an AWFUL time. peachie and i were worried, but we figured that something had happened to your sister.. and LOOK WHAT HAPPENED HERE!!!!
but you have turned a corner... you're home and posting. and now, darlin... talk to the docs. weigh EVERYTHING THEY TELL YOU. ask all the questions you need to - i know you will. and then decide. there's a whole lot at stake here, but i KNOW that you will make the right decision for yourself.
don't leave us again!!!! get your nephew or someone else to post if something like this happens again!!!!
Sorry you've had such a scarey time, Pookie.
You're so right about the support on this forum...it's just amazing!
Thinking about you and wishing you wisdom and strength to make the decisions you have to make.
Heather
Hang on a minute Pookie...let me put down my bagpipes and let the haggis in!
Hang on a minute Pookie...Just let me put my bagpipes down and let the haggis in!
It's amazing isn't it...the internet just brings the world right in. I love to read about all the chickies who contribute to the forum...I'm imagining accents as I read...wondering how Barb sounds with her Texan drawl...I think I'm beginning to understand about the Joisy girls! I wish we could get crystalite here in Scotland and I reckon that I'll never get to grips with the...eh...Rockies and that other team!!
I love being part of this!
All the best Pookie
Heather
ps You can just imagine how much better my TARTAN outfit looks now that 84lbs has gone
Pooks, Pooks, Pooks,
I'm so sorry you've been through such **** lately. I'm glad that you're out of the hospital and really glad that you posted and pm'd. I have to tell you that I didn't know that hernias could be such a big problem. Sounds awful! I think that you should follow Ms Jiffypoo's advice and listen to everything the docs have to say and ask lots o' questions - and I know you will! Don't make any decisions until you're feeling better.
Heather - step away from the Haggis! Even the thought of that stuff scares me silly! And, speaking of my Rockies, we beat the Boston Red Sox the last two nights. How great is that? Even Peachie Keen would think that's a good thing! (Baseball note for Heather - The Sox and the Yankees are two self-important puffed-up ego-filled teams who both should get spanked regularly!)
Hey Pooks -- I'm still reading the thread and I'll bet lots of others are too -- you've got lots of friends here who care about you.
I'm so happy that your sister is doing so well and that should make you feel a little better about your surgery, I hope. It sounds like everything's going along on schedule for you. Keep us updated, OK?
here's a rule of thumb about the carbs in food: we were told that anything under about 15 grams of carbs - from whatever source - were generally ok. anything over that, especially at the beginning, increased the risk of dumping, which your sister unfortunately discovered quickly...
