Default Monday on the Beach

My gosh... where IS everyone!? Ruth takes a holiday, and the whole damned place goes to pot.

It's Victoria Day here in Canada, and it's pouring rain. Holiday Monday. DH is planning on dragging me to the gym today.
I'm completely off plan, but I HAVE lost 5 pounds!! It's payday this week (sometime it just can't come fast enough), and we're going to do a big shop for OP foods.

Going to get another coffee... what's up with everyone?

Ellis- What is Victoria Day?? I hear you on waiting for payday to stock up on OP foods. IF there is one downfall to the SB way of eating it is the cost!

Not much planned for the day here. It my first day of summer vacation- yippee!! My daughter just slept until 7:45- which is late for her, so I guess she is ready to get some rest as well!

My meals are planned for the day- I am trying a recipe from the SBD cookbook, Chicken Capri. We shall see how it turns out.

My dear Kiko... have you never heard of Queen Victoria? We are still a monarchy over here. Why, I DON'T know!!
Enjoy your vacation! Let us know how the chicken recipe turns out!!

Sil, darling, I have been SO concerned about you. Where the **** have you been? I'm sorry... I keep meaning to PM you. Are you alright? You've been in my prayers. How is your Dad doing?

Good Morning!

It is so beautiful outside today that I don't think i will be able to get a single thing done! The Cicada in our tree has finally quieted down and I am hoping to buy a scale either today or tomorrow so I can see what I have lost so far! Yesterday DH and I went to Burger King and they had a ceasar salad that was so darn good! He was eating his regular fare and was jealous of me eating my salad after he was through! I might convert him to the SBD way yet! The only thing that I noticed was the dressing had sugar in it, but the salad was so good with big flakes of Parmesan cheese that you didn't even miss using it! What a treat! I hope you all have a great day!!

Talking

Hi, all! Happy Victoria Day to all our Canadians! Personally, I'm a huge fan of Victoria, but I still am unsure as to why it means a holiday for you guys. But we get the day off for President's Day, so I suppose it's about the same. I would just love a holiday! Memorial Day is next week, but we do not get it off. My DH is threatening to take our dog with him to Six Flags since I can't go.

I hear you guys on the food cost! Our budget for the grocery store is $80/week. The first four weeks of buying SBD food cost me about $220 a week! This week, however, despite buying a bit of meat and two glass bowls that I was dying to have, the bill was only $125! Much better! I think the big costs came from buying things I did not normally have in the house...natural PB, low-sugar salad dressings, WW pasta, Splenda, etc. Now that a lot of this is purchased, I am getting back to normal shopping levels.

I get a food budget at school, and since I started the diet, there is very little that I can use it for. I can get frozen meat, but we do not have enough freezer room for it! Therefore, I convinced the DH that we need to buy a seperate freezer. They happen to have a sale at Lowe's with free delivery, but everyone else took advantage of it, so we hope to get it someday this week and have it by this weekend to store the couple hundred chicken breasts! Sheesh!

We had a huge storm this morning, and now it is sunny, warm, and very green out! Off to another sparkling day of work!

Happy holidays to all. I called out sick today and slept until about 5 minutes ago! I have to get laundry done [which means hauling it up and down 3 flights of stairs] and I wanted to get all my fat clothes to good will as well as get to the gym. I think the car accident though hurt me a bit as my back's been bothering me. I can't tell if it's from teh accident or my not getting to the gym the past week because even my fingers hurt...arthritis? Who knows. My body aches each time I wake up and Don't get to the gym.

Anyway, I am going to get dressed and get to laundry. Bleck. I wouldn't have called out if I weren't leaving on Wed night...need to get stuff done, you know?

Happy monday

I think up here in Canada, someone decided we need a long weekend in almost every month. In Feb, there is one called "family day" I supppose they were running out of worthy people to name a holiday after?
It looks like we might have decent weather up here today. All weekend it's been cloudy and threatening to rain. The weather guy was threatening snow!

I'm trying to go for walks with my 2 yr old, but whoo, after stopping at EVERY rock, flower and dog.......it really isn't much of a walk! Good thing he will still sit in my jogging stroller for 1/2 an hr (as long as we don't pass any parks...)

I'm hoping my grocery bill will settle down too, but it doesn't look like it. My dh won't go on the plan, so I still have to buy all the old stuff we were getting too! And btw, in just over 2 months, he's lost 15 lbs! I think it's mostly from working his bag off (going almost 20 days without a day off). He is still eating a pasta almost every night or for lunch, but he is eating more salads too I guess. I hate that I have to try my damndest to loose, and he just does without trying!

Chubbamuma!

How precious your two year old sounds! I understand how you feel about the walks, though. Our dog is the same way. She could spend five minutes sniffing the same patch of grass!

I understand about the DH, too. Mine is in Phase 3 already, and is worried about losing too much weight! Ack! Thankfully, he is being kind enough to eat whatever I make for dinner, and he does his breakfast and lunch eating at work, so he is being really supportive, God bless him! He was upset last year when he had to go up one waist measurement from the one he had maintained since high school!!!! Men!

Beachgal: My Dh is almost 68 lbs LIGHTER now than in Highschool! He never looked like he almost weighed 300 lbs, and he played football, and wrestled. They don't mix. His football coach would encourage weight gain, and then for the next wrestiling tourny, he'd have to drop weight to make a weight class. Talk about yoyo! I think not having his mommy cooking for him really helps. (she cooks for an army, even if there is only 2 people at the table) He has been loosing now, without even trying, just working lots seems to do it for him.
I love having the little mind of a two yr old beside me to point out all the things that I would have missed, but man, can't we do it AND walk at the same time! Lol!

Afternoon chickies....I poped in earlier but no one was around I did not get out of bed till 9:45 which never happens, anyway I was not awake enough to start the post. Then I got into cleaning and enjoying the qiute as I was home alone. DH was out helping a friend crack fill and the girls are at Grandma's house. So I had QUIET dosn't happen to often. It is raining here like crazy but I think DH and I are going to go to the garden center anyway. We want to get some sod and I want a bleeding heart for my new bed. I understand the food bill thing too although I am a bad shopper I stock up like there is no tommorow I spend 200+ a week and then I am back to the store through out the week. Well I must go and mop the kitchen floor and head off to the garden center. Talk to ya all later have a great day.

Hi guys

I have kinda been a lurker here, but as I didnt make it all the way through the 1st phase I thought coming here might help. I am back on the restart today and hate that I blew it 7 days into the program I have no excuse and no one to blame but me, BUT as today is a new day I will do better...I am sure that having encouragement and support will do the trick. Hope to get to know you all and wish me luck ...phase 2 is more up my alley just getting there is the challenge

Welcome, Christian! to you just for starting again! I think I would have just dropped it if it did not work the first time. I am very impressed with your courage!

Don't beat yourself up for things not working out the first time. I am sure there was a reason for that. Just wait and see how well things go the second time around! I got through Phase 1 by picking recipes that I knew I would like (check out the stuffed chicken, white chili, and yummy taco bake in the Recipe forum for this group). You can make it!
