Question Can anyone summarize SB for me?

Hi Everyone!

I tried Atkins a few months back and I lost 12 pounds in the first 2 weeks. But I felt so disgusting and greasy the whole time that I quit. I hear that South Beach is easier and has more variety. Is that true? What are you able to eat for the first phase? I just hate to buy another book! Would anyone mind just summing up what the South Beach diet is about? Thanks in advance!

Ahh I felt the same way when I tried Atkins...greasy. Ew. South Beach is better, it emphasizes lower fat meats, low fat cheeses and low fat milk. The saturated fats aren't in abundance, mostly focusing on poly and monounsaturated fats. It is not a low carb diet, you don't count carbs. It is a good carb bad carb diet. On the FAQ board, you will find a lot of info. Even the stickies will give you info, like the revised food lists for each phase etc. I find there is more info on this forum than in the book itself. There is a lot of variety even in the first two weeks so I would say your best bet is to check out the FAQ forum. Good luck
