Question New Mayo Debate - From SBD Cookbook:

I was paging through the new SBD Cookbook this morning and it says, several times, in the beginning of the book that people on Phase I should stay away from all mayo - light, ff & regular. Now this goes against everything else I've read and heard. Can anyone clarify?

Thanks.

I used light mayo: Hellman's Just 2 Good, or just the good ol' Light, and I did OK on the first pahse. I've also heard that you can use the "light" versions on P-1. There are some inconsistencies throughout... I say do what works for you.

(admittedly, I've given up entirely, and use, GASP, Miracle Whip light...so bad, i know)

Hmm. I also used light during Ph I, but now I use a little real mayo. I find that when I use the real stuff, I stay full much longer. Must be the fat.

I use anything that's canola or soybean oil based with no sugar (fullfat and no eggs - Trader Joes has a couple of brands and I think Smart Balance is OK, but read the label, don't just take my poor memory for it). I figure that if we can use soybean oil as a good mono fat in cooking, then why couldn't we use it in in the wraps and other stuff? that was my philosophy anyway.
