Default Hi Everybody!

Hi Everyone!

Thought I'd introduce myself and join you all on your journey.

My name is Cheryl and I live in North Central CT with my husband and 8month old Black Lab Mix named Jet. I am 50 years old and work per diem as a Certified Nursing Assistant at an intermediate care facility nearby.

WW has been a part of my life on and off for years. I lost 35 lbs between July 2002 and December 2002. Not really sure why, but I lost my weight loss mojo and pretty much have been coasting since then. Rejoined WW at the beginning of March and am 7 lbs from where I left off so that's not really too bad I guess.

I have been part of a group on Yahoo for quite a while, and find the format kind of overwhelming. There is just so much information out there (and I am an information junkie) and I get very overwhelmed and just stall.

I decided to re-evaluate my goals and get more organized (both in WW efforts and just life in general) and feel much better having done that. Keeping in mind the KISS rule of course.

Hope to make some new friends here!

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Guess we're all in this together! Look forward to more interaction. Feel free to IM or PM anytime - I'm on-line virtually all day/evening unless something is going on.

Have a great on program (whatever it means to you) day!

Default Quilting and dieting

I just caught your name. I am a quilter too and thought I'd drop you a line. How are you doing on your dieting and what method are you using? How much to you have to lose and how long have you been doing it. I have found that when I am in my sewing room I will just forget about food, that's the good part! But, I always try and knock off towards 5 pm and make dinner but it is later that I have problems. During those not doing anything evening times. I do try and bank up calories during the day so I have some legal treats I can eat at night to help overcome any urges. I am using a low-calorie diet. For now, I am eating up to 1300 daily. I started out with 46 to lose, I have lost 10. I could probably stand to lose another 5 after I lose that, but I will see when I hit my first target. When you see my post, you can hit the email at the top to send me a private one. I dont' think they let you actually type in an email address to a message, or you can go to my profile I think. Anyway we can work it out, also I use yahoo instant messaging and I am the same name as here.

on quilting. I have been doing it very steady for the past 4 years. I have stayed away from round blocks, mostly because there were enough other blocks I liked but now I am getting ready to deal with that. I have made the large Texas Star and loved it, and a storm at sea. I want to make a Merainer Compass and i have several books on it with great examples, but I'm still getting my nerve up on that one too.

Hi Magnoliamouth!

Thanks so much for your post. I have been so busy this weekend haven't had a chance to check the board. Not doing so hot on the diet this week - somehow my motivation has gone out the window. I would like to lose about 40 lbs myself - give or take. At this point 10 keeper pounds would be awsome though.

As far as quilting I haven't done much of that recently as I've been into other stuff - lost my quilting motivation too. I love scrappy quilts though, and lots of color.

I'll PM you tomorrow night for sure - things will calm down here and I'll be able to sit with a cup of tea and write ya!

Bye for now!

Cheryl

I have a quilt I need to finish and several I want to start, but I'm hung up right now on these purses. They are cute, but I am ready to get back to my quilts and will stop as soon as I finish this last batch and will not let anybody else talk me into doing anymore for a while!

Good morning Maggi!

Finally recovered from the weekend. I had a great weekend, but not great foodwise. I pretty much ate everything that wasn't nailed down. To the extent that one of my stepdaughters brought a spinach pie and italian pastries (the good stuff) from a great italian bakery so we had that too. And it was good I might add. Unfortunately, I felt it for the whole next day. Someday I will learn - maybe.

Been puttering around the house since the weekend. Have laundry to do and basic house cleaning. Will continue to do that today since the weather is crappy and gray here. Definately a good day for Lentil Soup - cold and damp.

I'm currently taking a Master Gardener class through our University Extension Service and we are getting towards the end of classes. The final is in two weeks and we are starting to do outreach hours. All of this is making me itch to get out in the soils of my garden, but it's still a bit cold so all I can really do is clean up.

I have a baby quilt that I have to put the label on and get to the baby who is over 1 year old (bad me). I just ran out of steam on that quilt. Guess in the end I didn't like it. Have lots of UFO's which I am working on here and there - mostly hand quilting projects - I'll bring one to Florida when I go visit my Mom for Mother's Day. BTW - where are you in FL? I am going to Boynton Beach (flying into Ft. Lauderdale) on May 6 and returning home on the 11th - quick trip. My parents moved down there a few years ago full time, but have had a condo in Boca for years.

Tell me about the purses you are making. I've been thinking of making some but it's that motivation thing again. lol

Talk to you soon. I'll execute Yahoo!Messenger - maybe we can talk!

Sorry you ate everything in sight. Yes, I know what you mean on the baby quilts. Sometimes something just strikes me wrong and I don't like the way a quilt is going and I will drag my feet a little bit. The purses are really cute, I have made them for most of the girls in my family. Intending up having to make them for some others but I did charge, materal and supplies are not cheap.

I need to get two of the purses finished before we go on vacation, by the way which is Saturday or Sunday we are not sure which day we will be leaving. It depends on chores we need to finish around here. I am a bit worried about staying on track with my diet. We will be visiting friends in NC and they know I am on a diet so maybe they will not offer things I can't have or that will tempt me.
