Question portion questions from a newbie

Hi all - Im a newbie and need some advice, so I make sure to get off on the right foot (i start SBD on Saturday)
I know some posts have already been about this topic...but I still have a question...I know on the SBD you can't eat totally uncontrolled portions, (right?) and in the book some things do have portion controls. But, lets say I make lunch or dinner with a chicken breast or some other protein. If Im starving, that portion can be quite large, correct? It doesn't have to be weighed? And also - if i have a snack between lunch and dinner, but im still hungry, can I have another one? I guess Im use to the restrictions of WW and also hearing stories from my friends on Atkins....and Im confused about how much I can eat on this diet without messing up my weight loss. I know I have to use control, but being hungry all the time will undermine my efforts. Any other advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much!!

Hey, Shasha! Welcome to the Beach!
Yes, eat a larger portion if you're hungry. You don't have to weigh anything. However, you should find your appetite lessoning on South Beach. And listen to your body. Eat when you're hungry, not when you're bored.

I found I ate quite large portions for the first few days but cut them back once I got over the carbo withdrawals. Now I often don't feel hungry but have snacks and meals anyway.

I found it's very important for me to have my snacks even if i'm not hungry too. For instance, if i skip an afternoon snack, I will go home and pig out (on op foods only though) because I'm too hungry by that time.
Also, I let myself eat when I'm hungry. Just think, even if it's not exactly op, it's still better than the crap you were eating before, right?

Later,
~L
