Default Casual Gourmet Sausages - Help?

Okay. I bought both the chicken and turkey varieties of these sausages at the Whole Foods market. They have a website - http://www.cgfoods.com/index.htm.

But here are the ingredients. Can anyone help with whether these are off-limits or passable for the SBD? They seem high in sodium, but otherwise, maybe the chicken is okay? (Serving size is one link, and they are pretty decent sized.)

1. All Natural Chicken Sausage - Sweet Red Pepper and Basil Flavor

Calories: 110 (calories from fat:25)
Total fat: 2.5g (sat. fat .5g)
Cholesterol: 65mg
Sodium: 640mg
Total Carb: 1g
Diet. Fiber: 0
Sugars: 1g
Protein: 19g
Ingredients: skinless chicken, sweet red peppers (red pepper, citric acid), salt, spices, basil, in a pork casing

2. Turkey Sausage - Spinach and Asiago Cheese Flavor

Calories: 130 (calories from fat:60)
Total fat: 7g (sat. fat 1.5g)
Cholesterol: 25mg
Sodium: 550mg
Total Carb: 2g
Diet. Fiber: 0
Sugars: 1g
Protein: 15g
Ingredients: turkey, organic spinach, asiago cheese (past. cow's milk, cheese culture, salt, rennet) salt, spices, garlic.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

The chicken ones sound alright. But I agree with you about the salt... Still, it might be worth it for a change.

Yum, these sound really good! They both sound 'acceptable' but the second one is a little on the high side of fat. I've never heard of these, how do they taste? I got used to turkey bacon, but it's still not quite the same.

Jennifer - They're actually really good! I've only had the chicken one so far. I had one for lunch yesterday with a salad. Not greasy or fake tasting. But I think they would taste even better cooked in a George Foreman grill (I used the microwave).

I agree the turkey ones are a little high on the fat side, but I don't want to waste them, so I've rationalized that if I have one, I'll have it for lunch on one of my more intensive gym days. That way, I can work it off.

They were "buy one get one free" at Whole Foods Market. www.wholefoods.com. I love that place!

OH! Whole Foods! I really wish we had one of those here, and also a Trader Joes.
Our health food stores here don't carry any meat products.
