Default I have a consultation Appt.

Hello everyone,
I am Islandgurl29, 30, married and a mother of two. I am young at heart and am struggling with my weight.
I just recently got a phone call from Dr.Davey's office for a consultation for gastroplasty. I have been on the waiting list for exactly one year. My appointment is not until May 3rd. I am scared to death. I want this so bad, but I am still frightened.
Has anyone had this surgery? I really need to hear some positive things now.
Thanks for listening.

Peachie, you're no dunce! I've not heard of it either and would like to!
Islandgurl, fill us in please and know that whatever procedure you will be undergoing, anxiety is certainly normal and the chickies here will be 100% behind you with support, encouragement and downy cyberhugs.

Hey, I found this, is this what you are having?

Vertical Banded Gastroplasty (VBG)

The Vertical Banded Gastroplasty (VBG) and Lap VBG limits food intake by creating a small pouch in the upper stomach with a narrow outlet reinforced by a mesh band to prevent stretching. The pouch fills quickly and empties slowly with solid food, producing a feeling of fullness. Overeating results in pain or vomiting. This restricts food intake. This is the simpler of the two operations, with a generally lower risk of complication's and shorter hospital stay.
