Default Daily Thread -- Friday, January 23

Hello again! I hope you girls are all nice and toasty warm this morning. I'm f-f-freezing down here where it's 13 degrees and the wind chill is about 5 below! Ellis, are you rolling your eyes at me?!?

Jennelle -- Oh, I am SO with you on No Child Left Behind! I could go on and on about problems with that little gem. Sorry you had a rough day, but it sounds like you handled it very well. Good for you!

So, when will you take the Praxis? Tell us more! It would be a little pice of heaven -- no grading, no report cards, no testing, no unreasonable parents! (No offense to ANY parents here! I'm sure you ladies aren't unreasonable, but you wouldn't believe some of the things we get called on some days!)

Today the kids are just at school until 1:05. We're having an early dismissal as it's the last day of the semester. This would be wonderful, BUT our administration decided it would be a fabulous idea to go ahead and get in half a work day that we need TODAY. So, teachers at our building can't leave until 4:30. On a Friday! Grrr.

All right, Ramblin' Rose has to get up from here and get moving. Talk to you later!

Hugs,
Christy

Christy, darling, I wasn't even going to CHECK the weather conditions until you mentioned it. But now that you have... ... it's -34C here with the windchill.
You can't leave until 4:30!?!? Those rotters!!
Don't worry... no offense taken HERE! I completely sympathize with you teachers. You're not paid anywhere near enough for what you do!
I remember when I was a teen... I went to the same high school that my Dad taught at... he was in his final years before retirement, and he started having a sherry when we got home from school. I'd never seen my Dad drink for stress before, and I was TERRIFIED that he was going to turn into an alcoholic with his "one sherry a day"!
What sort of sizes are your classes? My sister has about 34 in her grade 5/6 split. Too many!! And of course, a couple of those kids are special ed. There's a TA for those students, but that doesn't help my sister out much.

Chris, Kat, Jennelle... hope you all have a wonderful day...
Thinking of and praying for all of you. (yeah, that includes you, too, Christy. )

Christy - I will be taking it on March 6. I looked at some of the sample questions on the Praxis website and it looks like it will be fairly easy. I will need to brush up on my knowledge of children's authors and possibly the Dewey Decimal System, but I don't forsee any problems.

Chris - hurry back!

Ellis - I continually joke that they need to replace the Coke machine in the teacher's lounge with a margarita machine.

Default Much better day...

Hi all! Woke up with no cable, so no internet.

But all is well now.

My moodiness has left me. But now I seem to be coming down with a cold. Ah well, that's what happen when you work with kids!

I haven't worked out yet but I am planning to do my new yoga tape tonight. It looks tough - it's yoga but more in the mind set of strength training. So very slow postures, to work the muscles. I will let you know if I survive.

(anyone else having issues with the smilies? Nothing happens when I click them - so I manually typing them in)

Christy - Sorry you had a long work day today! Bummer. Hopefully it went by quickly and hello weekend!

Ellis - I hope you survive the cold. It was a sunny, warm day here today. Come visit me!

Chris and Jennelle: How were your days?

Default Here I am!

Good Evening Ladies!

Today was long. As of today I have put in over 100 hours in at work in the last 2 weeks, and no I don't get overtime The last few days my disease voice has been trying to lay the seeds of self doubt and low self esteem. I am fighting back with God, literature, phone calls. But I have missed you all and part of coming here stabilizes my day.

My abstinence is intact and that is where my sanity is WARNING ABOUT FOODHave to tell ya'll a funny/sad thing with my disease today. I had my lunch, and the dessert everyone else is eating is a brownie with lots of chocolate icing. So I start talking to the guy across from me:

"Is it creamy?"

"Is it luscious"

"Do the nuts crunch in your mouth or are they soft?"

After a few more the guy next to me leans over and says, "Are you having sex over there" Porno for foodies, avoid the Food Network at all costs its 24 hour porn End FOOD DISCUSSION

Kat- Let us know how it goes. I like Yoga for relaxing though I know it can be used for strength. Nothing feels quite as macho as lifting my weights though I hope you you don't get sick!

Jenelle- Dewey Decimal System? THEY STILL USE THAT? I thought you just ask the computer now and it told you where the books were or you could download them

Ellis- Love you darlin, I appreciate all your well wishes.

Christy- TGIF sistah. Time to relax and renew, get your booty in the bath and get out that fingernail polish

Miss Chris
