Morning Chicks! Thought I would beat Ruth to the punch and get the daily thread started!
Very quiet Sunday night/Monday morning at work. I have to admit it is a nice change from the past few busy nights. I worked a 12 hr shift last night, so only working 8 seems like a breeze!
Still haven't gotten to the grocery store, as I did not get a lunch break last night. Yup, 12 hours without a break! That makes for a very long night. Looks like I will get a break tonight, so the grocery store may just be in my future yet! Just have to get stocked up on SBD friendly foods. Just HAVE to!
I had to laugh when I read Chazmom's account of painting with red! I just finished painting one wall of my greatroom/dining room a deep rusty red! It took a coat of tinted primer and THREE coats of paint! I'm hoping the blue and gold paint I have picked out for the other walls don't require that! Especially since those walls are TALL and will require an extension ladder to reach. I get dizzy just thinking about it.
I sure hope everyone is staying safe and warm through this nasty weather. Sending warm thoughts and hugs to all of you!
I've been away...had a bit of a scare with dh and some pesky blood clots. All is well now that he is on blood thinners. I have been bad diet wise but by some miracle I haven't gained anything! Maybe stress took care of it.
Hi Franny nice to see you back!
We got about 8 inches of snow last night, it's sooo pretty. Well I'm off to catch up on all the SB news. Have a great day!
Sflake, so glad you're back, hon... we missed you. What a terrible scare you had with your sweet DH... I'm so sorry.
Franny, how do you keep going for 12 hours!
My gosh... what kind of paint are you girls using!? Last year I painted a couple of walls in the living and dining rooms a dark red, and it only required one coat with a slight touch-up. I was painting over a medium green. Maybe that's the secret.
Ah-h-h-h.......(sigh of comforting relief) all my old friends are here!
Hi, Franny, Sflake, Ruth, and Ellis!
How nice to start off Monday in the company of good friends!
Franny....how do you pull those long nighters, hon'? Happy to hear you're feeling more like yourself. You have been in my thoughts lots lately.
Sflake.....I sure did miss you! What a terrible ordeal you must have been through. I'm glad your DH is doing OK now.
Ruth....how did your menu planning go? I'll bet you are organized as far as meals go for several days now. I, on the other hand do well to have breakfast in mind! That reminds me, I'm a bit hungry!
Ellis...what are you doing today? Is it icy cold there? It's about 15 F here! Way too cold for me! Too bad we all didn't hitch a ride with Lizzie on her cruise!!
I'm going to exercise at the gym this morning if I can get my body ready to face going out in the cold temps! After that it's back to cleaning out closets, drawers, and packing up some things before putting our house up for sale in March. Trying to get as much done as possible before our trip to Florida for the month of February. We want to put the house up shortly after coming back the end of February. Lots to be done around here!
It is really hard to stay OP while going through all this moving stuff. I am getting rid of some things that I have hung on to for 30 years! Not easy!
Hope everyone who hasn't checked in yet has a smooth start to the week. Try to stay warm, Chickies. I'm sending hugs to you all.....
Sharon (off to brave the cold!)
Whew! That was a little flurry of activity! Harry needed stuff and the dogs were going nuts too. However, everyone is calm now. I am dressed and ready for the arrival of the elusive Kevin - nine-ish, he said.
Painting in deep colours is a of a job! The only way to get around it is to do texturing, ragging or glazing and that still requires lots of coats. My friend and I did one dining room at the country inn here in town a few years ago. We did base coat of rose, a sponged coat of burgundy, watermelon pink ragging and finished it off with a sort of claret glaze. The room looks fantastic but it was a lot of work. At least, we were being paid! I'll see if I can find a picture on the website.
Rehearsal went well again yesterday but I still don't know all my lines. As punishment (I think), the Director gave me another part to learn. I felt badly as I took that part of the script from Annette - but I'll get over it! She has her reasons, I guess, so she can explain them to poor Annette. My costume got her full approval and she is hoping that will inspire the rest of the cast to bring in what they are going to wear.
Hey, chickies, I was in WalMart after rehearsal yesterday and a package of red licorice fell off the rack and landed at my feet AND I PUT IT BACK! In the A&P, I picked up a package of sushi AND I PUT IT BACK! Something has clicked and about time as I am not still in ONEderland. I did buy myself a treat as a reward - the Good Carb/Good Fat booklet. The licorice was really really fresh too!
This morning I will do some shovelling on the deck and take Miss Lucy down for the mail if it's not too cold for her. Karen comes this afternoon to rehearse our part and I still need to drill those lines into my head.
Morning chickies....well it is snowing here we have about 19 cm and we are going to get somemore before it is all over 30 they are saying. It looks beautiful out but they say the roads are terrible. They did have school today which was a shock but I am glad they did. I will however feel better when they are all home safe and sound. Well this is going to be short as I have to go out and shovel the driveway and the decks plus all the little one are nagging me to go outside and play. Ruthie don't worry you will get those lines down in no time. Sflake glad that you DH is doing better. What a scare. Take care of you and him. Franny that is a long time without a break. How can you do it. I would be passing out. Well I must go the nagging continues I will check in again later. A big hello to the rest of you fab chicks.
Ruth, I am almost afraid to ask...but what kind of costume do you wear to perform the Vagina Monologues?
Franny, I refuse to paint another coat!!! I am done...It is the boys bathroom, it is small, I hardly ever go in there, and I know someone is going to pee on my freshly painted wall....so I am done No third coat for me! I can live with it. I wish you well with the bue and gold.
You gals keep warm, I think it is in the 40's today...remember last week when I said it was 70? This weather is crazy here
Does anyone have fish? We bought the 4 yr old some fish last night, told the boys not to feed them, and I was awoken by the 7 yr old when he came in my room to inform me he fed the fish!!!! What was he thinking?? I said ...do not feed the fish!!!! Yes, waaaay too much fish food. I tried to scoop some out, hubby said to let it set for a bit to dissolve and then scoop out half the water and add some fresh back. Is he right? I told him if he killed his brothers fish, he gets his frog that he bought last night!! Wasn't that mean of me? I couldn't help myself...we are having a bit of a problem listening!!!!
Yes, he purchased a lovely fat, orange, tomato frog last night. His name is Terminator
The kids are out of school today for Martin Luther King day....I told them we would go to a movie...but after the fish episode, I just don't know.....
We have gold fish 4 of them and they have been over feed a time or two, and they lived through it they are almost 2 years old now. I think your hubby is right I am not sure how they got to eat. But try the water trick.
Sometimes when I try to go onto one of the boards, like this one, I get these awful sex spam popups and I can't get the message board at all. I have to close and start over. Help!

Hi - I've been reading this thread for a while, and thought that I was pipe up. My husband and I are on day 10 of SBD. It has been an interesting journey (let's just saw we're very aware of a product called CHOCOLATE!) Regardless we have dropped 22 pounds total, an even eleven each. So we're going to stick to it.
I had to finally write in. We bought a house in May, 31 gallons of paint later.....we still have more to paint. I guess that's what happens when you change colors so frequently.
