Default I am assuming this recipe is okay???

This is a crockpot chili recipe from WW...do any of you veteran SBDers see anything wrong with it? I want to make it for dinner tomorrow night. My weekends are what gets me in trouble So, I thought I would make this for me and let hubby and the kids have pizza and then I could eat on it Saturday for lunch..therefore not being tempted with a fast food run!

Thanks!!!

1 pound lean ground beef (10% fat or less)
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1 can (15 ounces) red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 sweet onion, chopped
¼ cup canned diced chilies
2 tablespoons tomato paste

In large nonstick skillet cook beef and garlic over medium heat, stirring with a wooden spoon to break up meat, until browned; drain. Add chili powder and cumin; stir to combine.

Combine tomatoes, beans, onion, chilies, and tomato paste in slow cooker; stir in beef mixture. Cover and cook on high until the flavors are blended, 4-5 hours.

Looks good to me. Similar to my Tuscan Beef and Bean recipe.

The chili was very good...couple of things, needed salt, and maybe more chili powder to season up all that tomato. It was totally done in 4 hrs and was very thick...if you like a little runnier, add some water, but not too much.

Also, when you cook your ground beef...just break up the meat so you have some nice chunky pieces, mine was not so chunky and with cooking all day got even smaller.

Enjoy!

Sure! Why not? Be sure to read the Phase I food list in the Frequently Asked Questions section.

I made this and it was really great-- I did add more spice to it we like it hot-- I added jalepinos instead of the diced chillis and also added more cumin-- I love that stuff.

it was so good I used 85% lean beef the leanest I could find..

thanks for the recipe!!
