A friend and I are considering doing the SBD. I am bf and she may be trying to get pg soon. Would this diet be ok for us to do? Could she continue this while pregnant?

Welcome, Momma Chick!

Ummm... I'm sure I know what bf is, but the meaning escapes me right now.
As for being pregnant, Dr.A suggests that Phase II and III are fine. But your friend should consult her doctor, anyhow.

Aha! Breastfeeding! Got it.
I'm not sure... anyone else? Phase II and III, or would Phase I be alright, too?

I'm sure it would be fine for you to cut out the refined sugar and carbs. I think that most doctors would say that's how we sould be eating anyway. You will probubly lose weight without even trying while breastfeeding. I lost almost 20lbs after having my daughter in the first six months of breastfeeding. A great web site for breastfeeding moms is http://www.lalecheleague.org/FAQ/FAQMain.html you can find great info here on all aspects of breastfeeding. As far as pregnancy is concerned I would be concerned if your friend cut out the bread she normally eats. The bread in they sell in the stores is now enriched with folic acid. Folic acid is very important in the first stages of development. Lack of it has been linked with some birth defects. Of course your friend should contact her doctor and check with him.
