Question Questions about PCOS AND Metformin....help..

Do any of you take your Met like this....

500mg with breakfast
500mg with lunch
500mg with dinner
500mg with bedtime snack

Just curious....because of my research on taking Met, I've read it can be rough on your belly and maybe it can be more tolerable taking smaller doses spread out. I just started taking it last week and I'm gradually increasing my dose every week. Just wondering what you guys thought of this plan and/or how you take Met and when.

Thanks,
Donna

Default Welcome To The Forum!!

WELCOME DONNA!!

I take my Met. like this...

500 mg Breakfast or Lunch (Depends on the size of the meal)
500 mg Dinner

I got a little queasy and had gastrointestional difficulities the first week, but after that it has been smooth sailing. I feel SO much better on this stuff it is just amazing!! I also lost a bunch of weight since I went on it...probably the most of my 42 lbs loss came from this medicine plus a diet and exercise change. Yippee!! So hang in there...it will all come together for ya...

You can ask for Glucophage XR if it bothers your stomach. Regular Met TORE ME UP but the XR was much easier on my stomach.

Donna I too agree with Jenn...the reg. gluco. was really gave me bad side effects, but the XR has been great. Definately, ask your doctor about it.

Default ???? questions !!!

I was just diagnosed with PCOS im nearly 28 YO. I have probally had this for YEARS since im guessing 17 or so and I had asked my previous dr about it and he blew me off. Well Now I have a good dr and she plands on puting me on Glucophage and BC starting this week. What can I expect? Do most women lose weight on this combo? I am very over weight (im 5'3" and about 240) and could NEVER seem to lose weight even on 2-3 years of a 1000 cal diet and excercising 1-2 hours 4-6 days a week. Also do you get your energy back? Ive always been incredibly tired all the time for years but I just push through it till exhaustion really other wise I would never et anything done. Anyway thanks for takign the time and I hope someone can answer some of my questions! Thank you!
