Thumbs up Not losing weight...after 2 weeks...HELP

I have been on the SBD for over two weeks now, still on phase one, and have not lost any weight. What is wrong? I have had some leeway (I drink lowcarb beer or diet coke with vanilla vodka only 2 times a week). My diet has consisted of eggs, cheese, turkey pepperoni, grilled chicken, broccoli, peanuts and a small amount of peanut butter, low carb Endulge treats, so what am I doing wrong? The only time I tried exercising I became faint and had to quit 35 minutes in. Can someone help? I drink a lot of water....what should I do? I nknow I do need to exercise more, but I've seen family members lose weight on the diet without exercise. Please help me!!!! I am 5'2, 135 lbs, and would like to be down to 120 (I'm an actress, so it's important for me to be a little "healthier" looking). Thanks for your support!
My email address is ################# Thanks, everyone, and good luck to you all!!!

Karen, I'm pretty new to this diet but I'm also a nurse so I might be able to help you out a little.

I think that because you're already so close to your healthy weight, you probably won't lose weight as fast as those of us who are a little heavier. It's a percentage thing.

Are you positive you're not pregnant? That's exactly what happened to me when I was pregnant.

Hi Babe,

This is a hard question to answer, because every person is different, and how their body reacts to a "diet" or way of eating is unique to that person.

Some thoughts......

I think the alcohol may be hindering your weight loss efforts. Alcohol is converted to carbs-->sugar-->and stored as fat.

The endulge candy bars may also be a problem (those are the Atkins product, right?). I'm not sure of the ingredients, but I know many of the Atkins products are high in fat (and a lot of the "wrong" kinds of fat, meaning saturated fat). I also think those candy bars contain sugar alcohols, which can cause problems in some people.

What are the amounts of the cheese, pepperoni, peanuts that you are eating? Is the cheese and pepperoni low fat or fat free versions? Can you increase the amount and variety of vegetables that you are eating? If what you have listed here is all that you've been eating, it doesn't sound to me like you have a very varied diet.....which may mean that your body is not getting the nutrients that it needs. Maybe you need to add different foods. Try beans, lots more veggies.

There is also a possibility that you are not eating enough. If your caloric intake is too low, you body goes into starvation mode and holds on to that fat as hard as it can. You should be eating at least 1200 calories a day.

Maybe someone else will have some more thoughts and ideas for you.......

Oh, also, the closer you are to your goal weight, the slower you will lose. Sometimes people will see their weight hold steady for a couple of weeks, then suddenly seem to drop several pounds all at once.

Try to cut out the liquor and low carb treats. I think I remember from the CD something about the sugar in liquor being the worst kind. Hope this helps.

2dog gave you EXCELLENT advice. The others are right on as well.

Maybe you aren't losing weight, have you checked your inches?

Good Luck

Babedoll, you might want to give exercise another try. Just start slow...maybe 10 or 15 minutes at first so you don't get too winded or dizzy. And don't go too hard at it, either. I lost weight without exercising but I lost a lot more a lot faster WITH it!

Babedoll~~The ladies here have given you some great suggestions. I can only add to this: I do not think that you are really doing the Phase 1 as indicated in the book. You need to go "by the book" for the first 2 weeks so that your body detoxes and you start to flush out the excess water. It looks more like you're doing Atkins than SB.
I don't think that peperoini is on the P1 list because it is high in fat and sodium (salt) which can cause water retention. So can the frequent use of deli meats and salted nuts, etc.

Maybe you can post a few days food entries here and we can take a look at it to see if there is anything else that stands out.

Also, are you drinking enough water, not cola , alcohol, or other drinks??

Yes, you have to do PURE South Beach if you want to lose on Phase 1. I am not losing because I'm still having a drink here and there - strictly medicinal, of course!
