Here is today's on Portion Control...they do make a mention on the fact that the sugar is not recommended for phase 1....the good doctors staff made a boo boo!!!
Portion Control
The South Beach Diet doesn’t restrict portion sizes. As long as you stick with the good carbs and fats, you can eat as much as you want. Still, it’s possible to go overboard. Start with smaller portions of food, and then only take seconds if you are still hungry. Also, it’s important to eat slowly, so that your brain has adequate time to get the “full” signal from your stomach.
Correction: In the October 23rd Daily Dish, we recommended soaking low-fat, tender cuts of meat in a brining solution made with ½ cup sugar and ½ cup kosher salt dissolved in two quarts of water to add flavor and retain moisture. While this solution is fine for Phase 2 or 3 of the South Beach Diet, it's not recommended for Phase 1. If you are in Phase 1, we recommend soaking meat in a salt-water brine made with 1 cup kosher salt and two quarts of water. We apologize for the confusion.
