Default Just Chat - Monday, October 27

Silly time change! I woke up at four this morning, my usual five. When will my body realize I've been retired for 5½ years!

I've had coffee, have fed the Girls and am going to tackle my brown and white kitchen floor and get it back to pristine white. It's sort of a losing battle as it's another wet day but I don't want to be ankle deep in mud by noon.

Yesterday was a lovely lazy rainy day! I worked in a nap, Rob came in for a visit (and to change a lightbulb), I finally managed to finish "Quentins" and started on a new library book. I was reading in daylight! How decadent! I made a turkey stew similar to Lizziepie's veal stew - 'twas good!

A nurse/shrink comes at 9:30 this morning to start evaluating Harry's mental state so we can determine further treatment. I've once again adjusted his meds to get his BGL under control - an ongoing battle, I'm afraid. Poor guy! He does say the fog is lifting a bit and is admitting he can't remember stuff - that's a positive sign.

I hope everyone is getting over all our sickies and heading for a good week.

Morning,

Going to clean house this morning. My USUAL Monday chore.

Down 1 pound from last week.

Weather was 23 last night, but it is going to be a nice day today.

DH will go to work in the DARK now that we Fell Back an hour.

It really IS dark out.

Going to go read till DH leaves and then decide what I am going to do differently this week.
For one, I am going to keep my food/feeling journal.
Going to see if there is any room for change. And to see where my calories stand even though I don't count them, I want to make sure that I am eating enough of them.

Enjoy your time at the beach and your coffee.

Going to have a Chinese birthday party in November for a friend. Looking for a good site for some info.
Did learn how to read tea leaves, but have NOT done it yet...but this will be a highlight of the day I am sure. We will also give them the tea cup as a gift.

TTFN

Marcie

Good morning!

Marcie, congratulations on the pound!

Ruth, that's great news about Harry. Little steps. (sorry, too coy?) How wonderful that the nurse/shrink will come to YOU! I hope he/she is a good one.

Speaking of shrinks, I'm getting my very own starting today! I've been on meds for about six years, but have suffered from depression for 27 years. Gee, that's a big number.
This appointment is going to be "all about me", and I'm quite looking forward to it.
I have a wonderful psychologist whom I share with my daughter, but I need a psychiatrist to regulate my meds when they're not working too well.

AND I am going to paint the kitchen in the apartment so DH can get on with the plumbing.

Have a wonderful day, all.

Ruth-Glad to hear that Harry is thinking a bit clearer!!! It is great that the nurse is coming to you. Hopefully that will make things a bit easier.

Marcie-CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! You lost a pound, that is GREAT!! The chinese party sounds like fun, I bet your friend will love it.

Ellis-YAY!!!!!!! (I need my meds regulated too, but first I'm gonna go take another nap.....)

OMG! Den is up and about!
Geez, Ellis, it's about time you got your own personal shrink and some "all about me" time.
Marcie, a Chinese birthday party? Think red as that's the colour of celebration. What are you planning for food?
The kitchen floor looks good and the Girls are not too upsety about having to stay in the back room until their feet dry.

Good morning ladies.

I have started my plan today! I feel prepared and ready to go. One day at a time.

Marcie, congratulations on that weightloss. Good going.

Ellis - I hope your new Dr. helps you out.

How important is exercise on this program. I am kind of limited to exercise due to osteoarthritis in the spine and hip and also Fibromyalgia. I think I read in the book that it wasn't imperative.

I hope everybody has a great day.

Thank you, girls. I had a GREAT appointment with my "new" shrink. I'm going again next week. Thank God for OHIP. (health plan) I won't have to pay the 140 bucks we hand out to the psychologist!

Den, did you have a wee nap?

Happy, do you walk? I don't mean that QUITE the way it sounds. But walking is good exercise! What about aqua fitness? Oh... maybe you can't do that with the Fibromyalgia...
I don't think exercise is essential to this program, but it IS essential for your body. (listen to me... Queen of Excuses for not dragging my butt to the Y) How about yoga?

Happy: I have osteoporosis of hip and osteopenia of spine, and the Dr. says I need to walk. That any weightbearing exercise, along with calcium supplements, and also one of the new bone building meds(I use Miacalcin, as I can't take fosamax) will strengthen the bones. So I walk everyonther day and i go to Curves 3 times a week for muscle strengthening. I don't know how that would affect the Fibro. Have a friend here who does aqua exercise for her Fibro. Every little bit helps.

Glad every one is having a good day. Clean floors, new shrink, weight lost. Chinese party, 1 week without ciggies, Just a great Monday.
See you later. Lizzie

I wondered too, but I don't think he would have slept like that if it was all emotional. THEN he usually comes back to life quickly and wants to be on the computer all day!!! Since I woke him up at 2 he has been cuddly and dopey and keeps on leaning over to kiss me. VERY NICE!!! He tends to throw up when he gets sinus infections, so I'm watching for that too.

Geez, Den - do you want us to make room for him under the Sick Bay Beach Umbrella? We can bore him to death and he'll get better fast.

Guess what we got today. Snow....yep, that four-letter word! I actually had to brush the wet white stuff off my car after work today. I knew it was coming, but this is just a little too early!! I don't think it will stick around quite yet, at least I hope not, but it's a warning of what's yet to come.

Ruth, boy do I hear you about the time change!! My dogs were up and at 'em at 4:00 this morning also! I had a hard time convincing them that we needed to sleep for another hour. They thought it was time for BREAKFAST!! I hope Harry's appointment went well this morning.

Marcie, a Chinese party sounds like a blast!! You'll have to let us know how it turns out. And congratulations on another pound gone!!

Ellis, I'm so glad you're taking care of you, and I'm glad you are happy with your new "shrink"! How did the painting go?

Den, awww, I'm sorry your little guy is sick. Hope he feels better soon. I hope you get a chance to catch the sleep that it sounds like you need!

Happy, welcome, and congratulations on starting your journey to a healthy way of eating.

Hi Sil and Lizzie!!
