Default I love reading you advice!

Planning on surgery in about 3 months. Just waiting for insurance approval. Reading your responses and Amy'w letters I hope that I can one step ahead in the many changes to my life. I too will be expected to cook meals soon after srugery for my family.

I have little time to be down and out, as my 3-3/4 year old grandson keeps me busy. My husband and I raised him for the past 3 years. But all you ladies know out there, it's 90% grandma, and only 10% granmps. I keep reminding him, that he needs to be here to help me out during that recovery period.
Thank Goodness, I have a wonderful daughter, who is a nurse and is willing to come help me out. Also my son lives at home and he will assist me any way he can.

Keep the letters comming, learning is half the process!

Hi Bevmel, no he is my only grandchild. son of my oldest daughter who will be 28 soon, (daughter is a mess) then I have my good children as they like to be called, another daughter who is 26, and a son who is 23. Rasing him, sure is different than it was 25 years ago. They develop so early, and grow up so fast at times. Then you look the other way and they are back to being 3 and emptying the soap all over the floor! I love him, and would not do life differently!

Oldest is living in Florida last I heard, she doesn't understand what she is missing. I'm 48, a little old for this, but He is one of several reasons for looking into surgery! I'm looking forward to riding bikes, and playing ball, without geting out of breath and too tired to play.

So how is 4 weeks post op? Are you back to work? Would you do it again? I want to know the good and the bad, so I am prepared.

you do not know how lucky you are to have this second chance

as i said my daughter is 25 and i had to miss out on so much when she grew up
even something as simple as breaking out into a sweat on those open house meeting at school b/c you know everybody else shows off and gets into those little desks
or how many class trips i had to beg off of b/c i knew i could never keep up with the walking
and of course from me being so limited my daughter has all of my bad habits and is now battling her own weight problem
b/c of my surgery she is now attempting ww for second
time i hope she sticks with it b/c she is so beautiful inside and out and i do not wish her a lifetime of what i experienced when she has children of her own

that is what i am looking forward to with grandchildren a second chance

your comparison of your children reminds me of my own brothers and sisters you have to wonder we were all raised by the same parents but yet some of them i just do not know lol

well good luck on your journey and stay strong and focus
it will all fall into place

Thanks BevMel for the words of encouragment ! It is a joy to raise him, it's like we never saw our kids too some of the things he has come up with. We decided it was because we were too busy with work and the other children to sat back and watch them grow! I just wish I could have surgery soon like November, really don't want to do late December, since his birthday is on Christmas eve. I tell him he was Grandma's Christmas present!

Don't really want to dwell on that situation. It's over, and I am okay with what all happened. I have no regrets. Now I just want to focus on my life, and the changes that will happen! I just cann't wait!. Some of my brothers and sisters think I have a death wish or half crazy for doing this. They just don't understand that surgery is my only chance for weight loss and increased health.
