Default Just Chat - Thursday, October 9

A late start for The Girls and me. I slept until 7:30.

I have five major bruises on my arms but Jane the Determined Vampire got her four vials of blood from me yesterday! I have been informed that my veins are not in the normal places! I made her note on my chart where to locate the abnormal jerks!

Lucy yelped and banged the kitchen door again last night so I let her out at 3. Then I decided to leave Hershey downstairs with her. Worked like a charm! The little sweetie has just been lonesome! Stupid 2-legged mommy finally twigged!

My friends are coming here shortly to pick up a major load for the dump, including the water heater we replaced last week, so I need to get cracking. Looks like a gorgeous day! Enjoy!

All that talk yesterday of little surprises left by animals....I got home to a smelly large gift. At least he was kind enough to do it on the kitchen floor and not the carpet. (Did someone put a curse on me)? Actually we are storeing a few boxes for friends that moved to florida and I think my baby was jealous...new smells and all. Why in the cosmic universe I am always the first one in my family to notice this kind of stuff?

Beautiful day here...think we are having Indian summer, Happy early thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends

Good morning

I don't like getting blood work done. They always seem to have a hard time finding my veins too. Plus when they do find it, they don't get enough blood. Next time I go I'm gonna tell them...you only have one change

It's nice here so far...but we are expecting some showers later in the day. Have a great day!

Coffee...give me coffee....!

Ruth, glad your veins decided to give up the goods! You need to get a little tattoo that says "PUNCTURE HERE"

Sflake-I sure hope I didn't curse you...no new messes here thank goodness.

MSgal-I think they are calling for showers here, too. It sure looks that way! At least is isn't as cold as it was last week.

Not a lot going on today. I just got up after being up most of the night, so I got an even slower start than Ruth! I have to run some errands and maybe get some sewing done. I got quite a lot done yesterday, which is good. Not much else got done, but oh well....do I seem concerned? Not too much!

Have a great day chicksters!

Ruth-YIKES!! I'm glad they successfully got the blood, but GEEZ!!! My worst blood experience had to do with donating. I think they got an artery instead of a vein, because the bag filled REALLY quick, and then when they took the needle out it was spurting everywhere!! They finally stopped the bleeding EXTERNALLY, but I had major "bruising" all the way down to my wrist.

Sflake-WOW, don't you just LOVE pet presents? Thanks for posting about John's birthday. Bittersweet, but good to think about anyway.....

Ms24-HI!! We are actually (too) warm here today after a very cold start to the week. I'd like to have something in the middle!!!

Franny-I'm tired today too. Trying NOT to go back to sleep. but I feel very tired. I'm in what I call "lazy orange kitty" mode. I want to stretch, yawn, drink a little water and then curl up in the sun and snooze.

Ruth, I agree with Den....YIKES!! I work in a lab, and I know how hard it can be to get blood from some people, but they shouldn't be leaving big bruises like that unless you have a clotting or bleeding problem!! Drive down here and I'll take your blood for you!! I hope you enjoy your gorgeous day, unfortunately there aren't many left I'm afraid.

sflake, I have to laugh at your message....I too went home to a gift from one of mine, but it was in the form of a yellow puddle. Silly dogs!! I hope you also enjoy your beautiful day!!

Hi Ms24Gal, Franny, and Den!! I hope all you ladies are enjoying your Thursday.

I can't believe we're already getting towards the middle of October!! Where does the time go? It seems the older I get, the faster time flies by. I don't think I like that.

2dog ~ reminds me of a quote I once read by Debbie Reynolds (Ithink) the only thing about middle age is that you know you will grow out of it

Night cap time for me. Today was my blood letting experience. I have easy veins to find, but today she left a big bruise about the size of a 50cent piece.

Twodog - we'll hire you. By the way, you have cockers. Have you ever had a problem with your dogs with too much protein in the urine? They tell us that is a problem with our dog and she is part Cocker. I looked it up on the 'net' and they said this problem is common in Cocker spaniels. After $173 worth of tests, and we haven't got the report yet, as they had to send the blood and urine away, we don't know just what will be in store for our 'baby'. I just know that we have to take her out more often and now in the middle of the night. At least we take turns.

I won't make it for coffee tomorrow a.m. either as my friend is picking me up to go to Curves at 8:00a.m.

So Ruth I'll be here for a little music and a glass of wine. : Lizzie

Lizzie, my cockers have not had any problems with increased protein in the urine. My male did have a problem a couple of years ago with crystals in his urine, due to his urine being very alkaline (high pH), but that cleared up and he has not had any problems lately. Are they thinking that your baby has kidney problems (a common cause of increased protein)? A lot of those types of problems can be controlled with diet I think, but not having had any person experience I'm not positive. I understand about having to get up to let her out in the middle of the night....the cocker that I had before these two had heart problems, and for a couple of years she was on lasix, which made her have to "go" frequently, and for a couple of years I was up with her at least once and sometimes twice a night. What we won't do for our furry family members! I hope you get good news on your girl's lab tests and that it's something easily treatable. Please be sure to let me know what you find out.
