Arrow January Exercise Challenge

Let's get 2025 off to a rocking start with lots of movement to support our healthy goals!

State your exercise goal and track it throughout the month with this supportive group of fellow exercisers. We'll compile our workout goals into a list. As each goal is met during the month, it gets turned RED in celebration.

I drew up an elaborate plan on a calendar sheet for more strength-training and yoga in January. To put it in the form that I usually use here, I'll declare these goals for January:

1500 minutes of exercise, including
300 minutes of strength-training and
400 minutes of yoga

I'm going to up my game this year & try for doing three things per week:

target: gym, sailing, climbing, walking - 12x total

I may even give yoga a try - I could do with improving my flexibility & core strength.

current: gym 2x, climbing 4x - 6x total

I'm on track at mid-month, plus doing some weight training at home which I'm not counting. as I said on the Jan weight loss thread, it's probably not doing much for my weight loss to be (hopefully) putting on muscle at the same as (hopefully) losing fat, but I'd be very happy to stay at my current weight if I could get my body fat %age down sub-20%.

on the upside, I'm now able to do six push-ups, from only being able to do one at the start of the year. my goal for 2025 was to be able to do 10 & I might hit that by the end of Jan at this rate!

how is your strength training going Joy?

MrBadger: Great job on your weight training at home, along with your other exercise. I'm feeling stronger, too. I haven't included push-ups, yet, but I can hold a plank for about 45 seconds, up from 15 at the beginning of the year.
