Happy New Year! What are your weight loss goals for 2025? How can you get a strong start in January?
Join the January Weight Loss Challenge to set your goal, track it, and meet it -- with the help of a supportive and encouraging group. All the goals will be compiled into a list. As each goal is met during the month, it gets turned RED in celebration.
This thread is for weight loss goals. For your exercise goals, check out our sister thread: January Exercise Challenge
I'm going to nudge my maintenance goal down, for the second month in a row -- a sneaky way to keep losing weight while I'm telling myself that I'm in maintenance.
Joy, thank you for doing this. I have been absent for a few months but starting the year right foot.
I’ve fallen off the wagon the last month or so.
SW: 199
GW: 195 (my real goal is going to be down to 190, but I don’t want to bite off more than I can chew 🤣 so I’m starting with 195)
I will be back here at least 3x a week posting my updates (good or bad). I need the accountability.
Ha! I got a frustrating number for my first weigh-in of the year, given the goal that I set nearly a week ago. I'm blaming the tense days ahead of our major winter storm. Now, that it's here, though, I'm much more relaxed and getting back to my normal eating routine. We're stuck at home for an undetermined amount of time, but the power is on! We can cope with this. I'm very motivated to get back below my red line!
I'm really struggling to drop any weight this month, although it does feel like there's a bit less of me around my waist. I have been climbing & weight training quite a lot though, so it's possible I've put on a bit of muscle at the same time as losing some fat.
MrBadger: I often stop losing when I change to exercises that focus on more muscle development. Since those exercise tend to make me feel better and more fit, it seems like a good trade for a while. Eventually, my body will get back with the program and start losing again. I think that the only reason I didn't see that impact with my current bout of weight-training is that I just finished a six-week yoga program that included a lot of muscle developing poses. So, it was a more gradual transition for me than usual.
I didn't hit my target this month, but I lost 1lb & 1/2" off my waist. I'm also pretty creaky from climbing & the gym, & I always retain a few lbs when I have sore muscles.
