Default Body getting adjusted to walking all too soon!

I am 50 and a mother of 2 grown kids.
I started at 217 lbs recently (5'5") and along with mindful eating / dieting moderately, I started on walking for weight loss.

Initially I walked 2.7 miles every single day without a break for the past month and lost about 6 lbs. Then I hit a plateau for about 12 days. I thought this was all too soon, given I was sedentary to begin with!

Then I upped my walking to 4 miles each day and the weight started to come-off again. Now I wonder how soon 4 miles will stop challenging my body and I will hit a plateau again.

Anybody experienced the same, that is, hitting a plateau so soon, within the first month of walking? Or is it due to my age? I wonder.
