Hi everyone,

Today is day 2 of being on track. Anyone here strugging with regain or just had their surgery and want please feel free to post.

Hi!

I'm also struggling with regain. I had by-pass in March 2019, lost 190 pounds, had skin removal and lost about 7 more pounds. My plastic surgeon wanted me to gain about 15 pounds, but I overshot the goal and I've found myself at 156 (up from 118). My boyfriend and I moved in together in May 2021 and moved across the country together in November. I went from strict control of my diet (which wasn't healthy) to merging my life with someone else (and his eating habits) and having too little control. I know that I'm not overweight, but it's a slippery slope that I don't want to be on. I'd like to get back to 135 (and back into my 0/2s and XS) and maintain that weight.

I'm active; we hike, bike, run, walk, kayak, swim, and play tennis, but my diet habits are getting too relaxed. I track my food in MyFitnessPal and try to stick around 1000 to 1200 calories a day. I find that I do really well for three days, then crash and burn for the remainder of the week. My boyfriend does most of the cooking, so my ability to be regimented in my calorie counting is somewhat impaired. He is willing to cook things that help me (even though he insists I'm perfectly healthy at my current weight) stay on track. I have difficulty staying on track when I don't have full control and I don't want to take cooking away from him because he enjoys it.

Part of me just wants to go back to the way I ate when I lived alone. I ate yogurt, protein bars, egg whites, and chicken wraps. I ate very little else. It wasn't entirely healthy, but I managed it well. Finding the balance between that and where I am now (eating things that are clearly not bariatric-friendly) is very difficult for an "all-or-nothing" person like myself. I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to tackle this.

Thanks for listening! I'd love to support one another as we get back to our old selves again.
