Default Boot Camp Challenge Day 30-Details, Schmeetails

Good morning, troops! Time to get moving and start the day...again!

We have talked a lot about our internal saboteurs and how they conspire to derail our progress. But there is another enemy in our midst just as dangerous! Our INATTENTION TO DETAIL can get us in a world of hurt!

We need to pay close attention to the details...especially when we aren't progressing the way we would hope.

Have you ever uttered (or typed) these words? "I've been eating well all week and I still gained a pound!"? Let's take a close look at that statement. What do we mean by "all week"? Five days out of seven? All day long...until evening? Except for the two times we ate lunch at the buffet?

What about the treats we allow ourselves? As you know, I'm a big advocate of not feeling deprived, and feel that small, planned splurges are important. For example, I was allowing myself a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks (decaf/skim) on Saturdays...kind of a reward for making it through the week. When I first got my orthodontic appliance and couldn't eat solid food I allowed myself a couple more...I mean, it seemed reasonable. Until I found out just exactly how UNreasonable it was....400 calories, 11 grams of fat and 39 grams of sugar (10 TEASPOONS!)

Some of you log your food, and that goes a long way towards staying honest about what you're eating. Personally, I don't log. I just don't like to measure or weigh or anything like it. But that's just me. And sometimes that creates problems (like the Starbucks fiasco)! : And that is where attention to detail can make or break you! Are you really paying attention to what goes in your mouth? To the activity you are getting? I think for the most part you are...I know I am. But there have been days when I realized that I was making more bad choices than usual. So I knew I needed to make a course correction...and quickly!

You have to know the facts....the real facts, not the "I think" facts....you know what I mean! Exactly how much sugar is there in ONE cookie? One regular soda? Know the enemy!

So, does this mean I will never, ever have a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks? Not on your life! But it does mean I'll really think about it next time....and have a smaller serving!

Kathy, I'm surprised you ever have time to post with all that exercise!

Ellis-Is Anne Mckevvit the strawberry blonde who has some kind of home decorating show on BBC? I really like that show! But of course I can't remember the name!

Ruth-Hey, fellow eBayer! What, pray tell, is Body Flex? You can call me ma'am or sir...no matter to me. I do remember thinking that the newer Star Trek shows were cool because all the officers, male and female, were called SIR!

Robin-Sarge can commisserate when it comes to abs....major surgery and 4 babies (2 of them BIG boys) has wrecked havoc on my abs! : I'm working on it, but it is a struggle. My DH is kinda cute...for an old bald guy! I don't know if the DaVinci's sugar free syrup and FF half & half are actually better, but I suspect they are....the flavored creamers are probably full of trans fats and sugars...but honestly, that is just a guess.

Lizzie-Private Lizzie! You sure are the early bird today (which is now techically yesterday since it is already Friday morning!) Thanks for the kind words about my pics! You're a sweetie! Glad you liked the veggie hash...I'll have to cook that in the morning...hmmmm...wonder if I can chew it?

I'm feeling better so yesterday I did a 45minute walk. I don't think I told you this Franny but you are very brave. Your pictures are amazing!

I can barely look at myself in the buff nevermind take pictures, hehehe. What an inspiration you are to us all

Geez, Ellis, you would have to quote the part of my post where I left out a word! Oh well...you all already KNOW perfection is but a lofty goal for me! I'm glad you knew what I meant!

sflake-Thanks for the kind words...It is kind of scary putting my pics up for everyone to see....my DH hasn't even seen them! But it felt right somehow. As much as I hate to see those pics and hated taking them (especially the first ones!) I am SO glad I did. They really give me a boost when I am feeling down.

Your thoughts for today are soooo right on! I was nodding while I read your message (but I think you didn't see!) :

I don't think I use the smilies the right way anyway, but the snail came from the list. I go to the Forum Rules below this Reply Box and click where it says Smilies Are On and it opens a window and I copy the smilie (or memorize the code) I want...

How should I be getting smilies into my messages??? I KNEW there had to be an easier way!!! he he

Maybe there should be directions in the Newbie Thread??? Whaddya think?

I posted yesterday, but I can't find it, I guess I clicked the wrong button

I did the WATP tapes again yesterday for 20 minutes, and I liked them better than the first time. And I definitely get sweating!

Hi, Everybody!

Posting late today. Had to take my niece to the lawyer, and then to a court date. She needs my help right now.

Sflake......thanks for asking about her. We are right in the midst of getting her help!

Anyway, I did walk for 30 minutes this morning before I picked her up. I will do more tomorrow. I am physically beat right now.

Just a short report. 30 minutes at Curves, and 1 hour of line dancing. Been another busy day. Set out 6 Chrysanthemum plants in my little garden. Had a Dr.s appointment for check up, and not it is bedtime once again. See you all over the weekend. Lizzie

Just a short one here as well, can't remember if I posted my exercise time yesterday ... 45 minutes yesterday, 45 minutes today ... gym tomorrow.

Deets, how is your niece?? Remember this is the hard part ... I know it seems far away to her but there is a much brighter future out there waiting ...
