Default Just Chat - Thursday, Sept. 25

Good morning, beauties. It's a rainy morning but very cozy in my kitchen listening to the rain on the roof and sipping coffee or decaf or tea - your choice. I hope nobody minds the nicely stippled brown and white floor or the slight aroma of wet dog!

Yesterday was too darn busy and I am feeling it today. This will be an "at home" day and I kind of hope we don't have drop-ins. I know it's a "country" thing but folks have a way of popping in at inconvenient times. Of course, I don't mind folks dropping in to cut down trees or put up towel racks. My neighbour Moel did that for me on Monday so the darn bathroom is now much better. Hanging up towels makes a huge difference!

I am planning to NOT do any preserving today. You'll be pleased to know there is not a single (or married) fruit fly in the kitchen. I'll do some music and will also sort through magazines and recycle several pounds.

So what's up with you? Wanna hang out with me and pet the Doggage?

Whatever your plans, have a satisfying day.

Ruth, what a great idea... the magazine throw. I think I'll do that, too.
This rain is rather nice. Although I don't know where the heck all of our umbrellas have gone to. I swear we had about eight, and all we could find this morning was a tiny little ugly pink thing with dogs on it. I had to FORCE my daughter to take it to school with her. I just KNOW that as soon as she turned the corner, she put it down.

I brought some of my houseplants back inside yesterday. They all go in my second floor stair hall... it's my "green room" in the winter.
One of the plants was a Norfolk Pine. I washed it all off before bringing it in, but before I knew it, there were slugs all over the pot! YUCK!! They must have been hiding in the holes in the sides of the pot. Honestly, I killed over a dozen slugs on the thing... there were three more when I came downstairs this morning.

Morning,

Getting ready to Kiss DH goodbye and then make some Salmon Patties for lunch (our dinner).

Going to read my new novel, a Danielle Steel, and talk on the tele.

NOT all at once, but...I do cook and talk to my friend on the tele at the same time!

Hope you all have a joyous day.

You could eat the slugs! Live? Dead? And pretend you are on Fear Factor I hear they are good protein.......hee hee!

Music...aw sounds GREAT. What will you listen to?
Me, a variety of music from oldies, to classical to rock and roll, to to to BUT not rap!

Marcie

Ellis, string them on dental floss and send them to Den. She could broze them and start a new trend! Ever see moose nugget jewellery?
Tip, LW does that to turn off our appetites. Good idea, Marcie! Did you run slugs through Fitday?

Ew...you guys! I was enjoying my eggs and c.bacon (I have enough to share...but not with the slugs!)! I have TONS of clutter to sort through and lots of organizing and housekeeping...but would rather just hang out here on the beach or read my book (The DaVinci Code is excellent so far).

Just to keep ya updated on why I feel like a slug...I lost 2lbs and gained 3. I think I ate toooooo many roasted chickpeas! Ruth, you are really right when you said addictive!!! It's the third batch I've made in 1 1/2 weeks and my whole family has chickpea-madness!!!

Was Franny bringing the ff hazelnut creamer or is that a no-no???

Good morning all: I guess I'm more in time for brunch than coffee. What are we having today?

Ellis: They say if you put out a little beer in a saucer you will soon have pickled slugs. : That is suppossed to work in the garden.

Ruthie: Do you make hot or mild salsa? Glad you have bid the Fruit flies adieu, but bet you when the pears come, they'll come out of the woodwork. Where do they hide? Glad you got a good report from the Dr. for Harry. Living close to the situation sometimes makes it hard to judge progress.

I'm glad to know others like the chick peas too. I like them a lot but I served them to guests to try, with some V-8 and I won't tell you what was said exactly, but it involved rabbits.

Have to be off now to do lunch, and then go to my bible Study class. I lead a group of about 12 ladies here in our park.

I'll see you later. Lizzie

Well, I have a few minutes to post now that I'm done gagging. I did manage to have some eggs so that I could take my meds and I have some nice low carb chili in the crockpot. Now to wipe down the kitchen and I'm out of there for awhile. I can't think of what to have for lunch! The other day, I wrapped some turkey slices around pea pods and dipped them in low carb salad dressing. They were good!

I've been retaining water again and the first thing DD asked was if I'm eating too many carbs! I've looked back on my menus and, no I haven't. Can't blame it on TOM cause I don't do that any more. I am going to try to increase my water intake. It's great fun when I take a diuretic plus a BP med that is a bit of one. I guess I'll take Ruth's advice from a long time ago and sit on a BIG sponge!

See you all later!

Hi, everyone!

Thanks, Ruth for opening your home to us. I guess I'm here in time for tea (no cookies, please).
Tippy....I missed that piece of advice from Ruth about finding a sponge to sit on. Sounds like one to keep for reference!

I'm catching up on my ironing today. Something that isn't my favorite! Oh, well, has to be done! My DH and I are cleaning out the gutters on our roof, also. Trying to get ready for bad weather days. It's beautiful here today, though. Bright and sunny around 70 degrees for the high.

Ellis, last year when I brought in all my plants, even though I thought I had cleaned them well and hosed them off, they must have been full of ants!!
We had ant problems all Winter because of that! Anyone have any good ideas on how to rid your house plants of insects prior to bringing them in? Short of exterminating the plant????

Gotta go help DH before he falls off the roof!

Thanks for the chat and tea!
~Sharon

Ruth-I don't know....they might melt when you throw them in the hot metal....
We COULD dry them, slice them, and set them in silver with an acrylic layer over the top of them. HEY!! Acrylic pendants with slugs in them!!! Tres chic!!!

Tippy-Slugs in chili would be GREAT!!! (You wouldn't even TASTE them if you made it strong enough!!!

Ellis-How about a nice face cream with essence of slug?!?!

Deets-THAT is one thing I DON'T do. If anything needs ironing I just try to get it out of the dryer extra quick!!! (Sometimes DH irons his shirts though)

Okay, I am STILL tired. It turned cold today and I have gone into hubernation mode. Worked a LOT yesterday, worked some today and FINISHED the bead order! So that means tomorrow I can visit with my parents after my haircut (My Mom and I go together.) YAY!!!!!

You guys crack me up! Slugs...ants....oh my!

I am feeling like a slug today...arghhh. TOM....first one since MARCH! Life just isn't fun here in perimenopause land! :

Tomorrow is the PTO Teacher Appreciation Luncheon and I offered to bring a salad...of course that means a trip to the store...and this is NOT a good time for me to go grocery shopping. It is the Starbucks that is my undoing!

I didn't bring the creamer, but I did bring FF Half & Half along with a selection of sugar free DaVinci flavored syrups...much better for ya! You guys are probably long finished with your coffee...I am just now getting up and am feeling pretty groggy need caffeine don't wanta wake up arghhh

Well, I had better scoot and get to the store. Supposed to do cardio tonight, but may slack off. I already did some at work, so the day isn't a total loss.

Oh, great book alert! I just finished reading THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES by Sue Kidd Monk. Wonderful, touching story of a young girl coming to terms with her mother's death, her abusive father, and finally finding a home...in a very unlikely place! Highly recommend!

Sure, Franny, try to change the subject from slugs and ants to bees! Actually I read that book and really enjoyed it. Maybe we should start a Book review thread. Hmmmm.....maybe tomorrow.
