Default A sizzling summer awaits: June 2021 Daily Check-In & Accountability Thread

to the June 2021 daily weigh-in/check-in. Here you will find support, encouragement, and endless kindness. ALL our welcome to this thread.

Here you can:
~track your weight daily, weekly or however you'd like ... but do check in
~keep track of what you eat or didn't eat
~keep track of your water intake or lack of
~keep track of your exercise/other goals
~vent, rant ... express yourself or just chit-chat

It's hard to believe that in a few short weeks thestart of summer will be here. Are you one of those folks who look forward to the summer with the same anticipation that you do the arrival of a good friend you haven't seen in awhile? Where I live the rain has long moved on, we had a couple of weeks of spring, and are now experiencing days that are regularly reaching 90 degrees and above. We are now entering our second summer navigating the global pandemic but it looks significantly different than where we were last year. We're not done and it's not over, but the sense of optimism is palpable. What does the new season have in store for you? Some have or will have vacation/travel plans. The academic year concludes with graduations and celebrations taking place--lots of them in person with capacity limits. Our yards, neighborhoods and grocery stores look different with seasonal fresh fruits, vegetables and greenery in abundance. Lots of changes and lots to be thankful for. By the time June arrives we're spending our time a little bit differently. We slow down . We look forward to relaxing after work, spending time outdoors, and nothing beats the long days with extra daylight.

However you spend this month, let's all take some time to be good to ourselves. Spend more time doing the things that you enjoy, keep you healthy, and looking forward to each day. The folks on this thread work hard, support friends, have hobbies, care for loved ones, etc. Don't think for a moment you don't deserve time for yourself!

A joy-filled and sizzling June to us all!

curvynotlumpy thank you so much once again for keeping this monthly thread going. And for always starting us off with such a positive message.

I love Summer but I wish time would slow down already. It feels like 2021 is rushing by. I agree that there seems to be more hope for a better Summer this year. Though high school students were told yesterday that they could not have their prom again this year, unless held outside with social distancing.

My goals this month is to continue regaining my full consistency with regards to exercise, hydration and nutrition. I have to say I had a pretty solid month of May on all fronts, but I can surely improve on it. And I want to walk more, in preparation for longer treks with David this Summer. So I have set a goal to walk 30 minutes at least 4 days a week 1, then 40 minutes, and increasing each week. I just need to get out of the house, after working from home all the time

Have a superb month of June everyone!

Hi fam!
I seem to be officially past my plateau, thanks again to Curvy for pointing that out to me. You would think that would be obvious, but it didn't occur to me at the time. I am at 52.6 pounds down. I am making my June goal 55 pounds, to make me be at 209. It almost doesn't seem real. I haven't seen that weight in over 20 years or more.

Martine Congrats on your two pound loss in May. Here's to two more in June. You've got this! I don't know how much you have to lose, but I think of it as two pounds a month and you will weigh 24 pounds less than you do now next June. You've got this!! I feel bad for those teens not having their prom. It's the same here. Heck, in my city we have all virtual learning for high school. (My youngest is a teenager and is in high school).

Hello my people, how we do today? I just love this time of year. I hope you all feel great and are primed for a super productive June! Thanks Curv, for keeping us going.
I think this is my one year mark, here with 3fc. So thankful for this site. I came in on a wicked plateau. I guess I've lost like 40 lbs since then. Just seeing that number is surreal. So, anyways, the party was so great, even the Awkward conversations were revealing. Learning to be, or at least fake normalcy. Like any addiction, it gets easier with time. I found the transition back to "dieting" easy. It really is a life style and I have a system that works. Vegetables, lol! My scale was dusty this morning when I faced the numbers. I appreciate the honesty. I find myself moving away from an all-encompassing attention to calories. I know how to recognize good and bad food decisions. I feel so great. Strong. Capable. Desirable. Life is good right now.
I'm kinda getting into form here 6/2 282.0
So after what I consider a fantastic month, my best yet. I would love to see 279.999 or anything lower.

loganandlivsmom glad to hear that you have moved past your plateau. I find it’s so important to read about other people’s experiences throughout their weight loss journey, to learn about pacing and patience.

William47 great new low number on the scale! You are right that we go through a lifestyle change, one that we know works and that we can get back to after a day of celebrations, for example. We’ll celebrate with you when you see that magic number 🙂

I have struggled majorly with sleep all this past week. And I finally realized after all of this time how fatigue makes me hungry. My body is telling me to eat to have the energy that it doesn’t have due to my lack of sleep. And I ate and ate some more before coming to this realization yesterday. Couldn’t figure out why I was like a bottomless pit and hungry all of the time. Now that I know, I may not be able yo fix my maintenance insomnia issue, but being aware is half the battle.

Have a great new week ahead everyone! A heat wave is starting here today, it’s going to be interesting working out in this high heat and humidity.

Good morning

loganandlivsmom: I'm glad the reminder about plateaus was helpful and that you've moved past it. They can be tricky and unexplainable things; sometimes they're directly related to changes you make and other times you don't need to do a thing and the scale resumes moving.

William47: Happy 3FC Anniversary! It WAS around this time of year you joined us and it was exciting to have a consistent male perspective about their weight loss posting regularly. Over this year you've not only weathered the ups and downs of your own journey, but have learned so much about yourself. Finally, I would be remiss if I didn't thank you on behalf of the crew for your constant support, kind words, and that you have for all of us! Echoing Martine, we'll with you when you reach your ultimate goal!

Martine: It is fascinating the way our bodies "speak'' to us! It will be interesting to see what happens when you don't feed the fatigue. Pace yourself with the higher temps and humidity. Stay hydrated! Wishing you better .
*********
June is still on single digit dates so I wanted to make sure I posted before any more time passed. The last couple of weeks we've experienced some very hot days that stick around until midnight or beyond and then drop to a reasonable cool temperature. This week the daytime temps are supposed to drop significantly and I can't wait.

My big news is that finals week begins tomorrow. The year has flown by quickly yet it seems like it has been a long year if that makes any sense. My calendar is finally clearing and it will be nice to get some breathing room between constant Zoom meetings and my actual work. It's a bittersweet time on campus. Every day I see students out and about on campus with their friends and family taking photos in their caps and gowns. I'm excited for them and their futures. At the same time, I'm sad that they lost a year of their college experience. At least they'll be able to have an in-person graduation experience which we weren't able to do last year. They're making the best of it for sure!

Okay, I'm off to the grocery store. Wishing everyone a lovely Sunday!

Curvy I love what you wrote about the end of the school year at your college. I could almost picture being there with the images of graduates and families. Also what you wrote about it being a long year but it flew by. It reminds me of the quote a friend introduced me to "the days are long, but the years are short."

William Happy Anniversary! I am so glad I have met you via the 3FC forums. I have told my family about you and your incredible progress. You are definitely doing this the right way. Anyone can crash diet, but the weight always bounces back just as fast. I personally have several times. I didn't think at the time it was but I know now it basically was. I know what you mean about the number being surreal. I feel the same way about my weight right now. I seriously can't remember how long it's been to see this number. 20 plus years or more for sure!!

Martine I'm sorry you are dealing with sleep issues. I can relate. I would have trouble winding down and would take too long to get to sleep. My doctor said to try melatonin. It's helped me tremendously. I also have some books I had been wanting to read and never got around to it. l have made it a habit to take the melatonin and an hour later I lay down and read. It helps me relax and go off to sleep (and not stay up and eat) as well! Sleeping well does reduce stress hormones and stress eating, etc...I hope these suggestions help!

I am at 53 pounds right now, my next goal is still 55 by the end of June. With almost three more weeks I know it's possible!

loganandlivsmom terrific results as always! Smaller achievable goals breaks the weight loss journey into small successes that motivate you to keep going. Do you also have a long-term goal? Thank you for your recommendations to have better sleep. But I actually have no problem falling asleep. My issue is that I usually wake up after 4-5 hours of sou d sleep and have trouble falling back asleep. It often takes me two hours to do so, breaking up my night. It’s called sleep maintenance insomnia. I go through periods where it’s on and off.

curvynotlumpy looks like we had the same kind of weather last week, hot and muggy. Hope it’s better for you this week. Another semester winding down for you, I know you enjoy having more time to yourself, to be able to complete your tasks without as many interruptions.

This was my busiest and toughest week at my new job so far. Last week I offered my help to the Talent Acquisition team in coordinating our company’s first ever online job fair (I know they are short-staffed so I figured I could help). Along with my regular work load, which increased significantly this week, having to spend half a work day in court for a former employee from the time I was a store manager contesting a decision in a work-related injury case, to TA asking me to help on another project, and my boss asking me to be the support for managers taking part in the job fair yesterday from 8am-8pm, I reverted to my old bad habits of not stopping to eat lunch and being so tired at the end of the day that I could not work out or care to eat properly.

I will rest today and enjoy some down time, enjoy spending time with David and Loki, enjoy the beautiful weather we’ve been having that I have barely noticed I was so immersed in my work, and enjoy working out and eating healthy foods. And since the week ahead promises to be busy (just not as intense), I need to remember to take care of myself throughout.

Enjoy a great weekend everyone!

Martine I thought I would just offer help if I could. Sorry you have to deal with sleep maintenance insomnia. It sounds super busy at work! Wow! Thanks for your congrats! It seems like it's a long, slow process, but I now realize this is the best way for me to lose weight. Over the years I have lost quickly and it came back just as fast usually. My long term goal is 160. I have never been 160 as an adult! The lowest I remember is 175 and at that time I wanted to lose more. I have an initial long term goal which is to get to 199. Not having a 2 in the first number of my weight would be epic! LOL

I am a little closer to the June goal of 55 pounds. Officially I am at 53.2. I plan to walk today with my daughter. I have been much better at being more active and I am sure that helps along with writing down what I eat and tracking the calories each day.

Hello favorites, how we do today? Its been so nice here, cool and wet spring! As summer approaches, cherries are coming on with the apricots right behind. Got the garden in, built new fence and cleaned out the garage. Like cleaned the garage OUT! Its so I can park the new whip out of the weather. I'm enjoying my life slot right now. Started drinking. I've never been a drinker but I'm trying out the social scene. I live about 4 blocks from the bars. We also have a lively block party group that I enjoy.
On the diet front, the battle rages on. I continue to flirt with normalcy but still fear relapse. It seems inconceivable that I would regain my weight but I know the slippery path awaits if I get complacent. I wish I had done this so much earlier! Anyway, hit my goal already this month. It was a modest 3 lbs but it puts me in new territory, today I'm 279.8 dressed. I cannot remember being less then 280 and for years I lied and said I weighed 280. I would like to make it my new Red Line but I know I will be bouncing above and below for a couple weeks. As long as my trajectory remains downward I will be satisfied. The 280 thing is a huge milestone, I mean, I'm proud of all I have accomplished but this one is heavy. I'm so proud. I still tend to try and reward myself with food. I also recognize a propensity to talk about food. More psychological road blocks.
Love u guys!

William Congrats on making your goal this month! I like what you wrote about flirting with normalcy. I feel the same way myself. I can't even remember how long it's been since I have been this weight. I know it has been at least 20 plus years.

friends! We were a very quiet group in June. I hope everyone is well and that you'll join me over on the July thread. One of my goals is to be a better poster and check in more often! A big to you all.
