Default Boot Camp Physical Fitness-Day 22

G.R.I.T.

Goal setting
Realism
Inspiration
Try it!

Goal setting-you need a destination if you are going on a journey. Your goals can be behavior based, such as "I want to work out 3 times a week," or result based "I will be add 5 pounds of muscle to my body." But you need goals, and they need to be as specific as possible. "I want to get into great shape" is the fitness equivalent of "I want to travel around the world!"

Realism-Most of us will never look like Cindy Crawford. I doubt Cindy Crawford looks like Cindy Crawford most days! Make sure your goals and aspirations are realistic and attainable. But don't sell yourself short, either! Make sure you are giving yourself enough of a challenge that you feel a sense of accomplishment when you meet your goal!

Inspiration-Do what you LOVE! If you don't know what that is, then give it some real thought. If you love quiet and solitude then a step aerobics class probably isn't a good match. If you thrive on being in a group then a long walk through the woods won't be your cup of tea! Don't just dive into whatever is trendy...make sure that what you do INSPIRES you!

Try-Don't be afraid to try something new. Your body gets used to a certain activity and isn't challenged by it anymore. Try a new video, try a new walking path, try a new weight lifting routine, etc. Try exercising at a different time of day, try exercising in a different place, try something you never dreamed of doing!

I am doing pretty well. My mouth is improving slowly and I was able to eat some real food (soft, but real!) yesterday. I was worried that exercise would fall by the wayside after I missed 3 days in a row but I'm back at it and it feels great! I tried a new video "I Want Those Abs" by Tamilee Webb. OMG! I could not finish the silly thing...but it gives me something to work towards, right?

Did you guys see the activity total for the week at the end of yesterday's post? I'll repeat, 'cuz good news is always worth repeating!

Group Activity for Week of 9/14: 1107! We are already almost to our group goal of 1500!

Let's get creative...I want you all to try and come up with some acronym about fitness! I'm sure somebody can do better than I did! : So, let's go, troops! Get out that thesaurus and let your creative energy flow! I dare you!

Thumbs down Good Morning, Sarge!

Reporting for duty today! Sergeant, Franny !.....

O.K., I'll try this on for size:

Goal setting........
I'm making every effort to work out for 1 hour 5 days a week
with 1/2 hour of Cardio and 1/2 hour of weights. On my way
today after I do this and the "Daily."

Realism.......
I will be so happy if I can look in the mirror and smile
instead of running for cover! I want to be able to feel
comfortable in my size 10 clothes which are hanging to the
back of my closet. I know I will never be a thin person, but
I know I will look my best at my goal of 140. Sure, I weighed
110 in high school, but let's get real!!!

Inspiration.......
This one is pretty easy! Visiting here and reading what
you have to say each day is both motivational, and inspiring
to me. It gets me going in the right direction...which is the
gym for me!

Try It!......
Today I'm going to try a new Line Dancing class. Sounds
like fun for an hour!

Thanks for the motivational talk, Sarge.....
I'm off to exercise!
~Sharon

Pvt. Lizzie reporting:

Have walked 25 min this a.m. and had a 30 min. workout at Curves.

Goal: To get back to my lifetime WW weight, minus 5 more .lbs

Realism: At my age, who could even think that I could be a Cindy Crawford. Now, Joanne Woodward, maybe. : I just want to look and feel good, for me. Right now I weigh less than I did in High school, many moons ago.

Inspiration: I get my inspiration from all of you.

Try: I keep trying everyday, and know I need to do this for the rest of my life.

Being back on phase 1 I have lost 1/2 lb. Just had to get on the scale after 4 days. My DH is pumped, since he has lost 3. So I know now that we will keep to it.

Deets: You'll love the line dancing and it sure is good exercise. We have a class once a week. I really enjoy it.

Have a great day. Lizzie

Good going, girls!

Went for a brisk, one hour walk this morning.
Just had a nap.

Is anyone here tired? I keep having naps. I can't seem to find any energy. What's wrong with me? I'm like a slug?

Ellis: Can it be the side effects of some medication? Have you been to your Dr. to find out why you have no energy? sometimes there is some underlying cause we can't even imagine. I had that problem, and found I had a low blood count, and it was caused by a med. Once off from it, my blood count and energy level have increased. Hope you get to the bottom of this. Lizzie

Thank you, Lizzie. You're right... I must make an appointment with my doctor. Such a drag...
I was thinking about my Dad with his low red blood count, and his having to have regular transfusions for the rest of his life... something I should look into myself. Who knows... it could be hereditary.
And I DO take meds for depression, and I upped the dosage this summer... could be that too...
Thanks, hon...

Evening recruits! Actually it is the middle of the night, so I'll let you all sleep.

You guys continue to excel at this exercise/activity stuff! I am so impressed with you all!

Group Activity for week of 9/14: 1412 minutes!

We are a mere 48 minutes from our weekly goal, and that doesn't include several folks who had their activity planned but hadn't done it yet! Whooo Hooooo!

So if you got your workout in but didn't report it yet, let me know.

Hey Sharon, how was line dancing? That sounds like a blast...but I am not very coordinated Not sure that would be a good match for me. Might be fun....for everyone else to watch!

Lizzie-congrats on your loss after going back to Phase 1!

Ellis-I've been lethargic lately, too. Not exhausted exactly, but I don't have much get up and go. Still getting my workouts in...I would hate to see what I would be like if I didn't! Maybe it is the cooler weather...our prehistoric genes want to hibernate.

Okay, off to today's post. If only I could think of something to say!
