Much of the loss depends on how large the individual's glycogen store is to begin with. If you hold a lot of glycogen then you can lose anything up to 15lbs in the first week alone. The heavier the starting weight, the bigger the losses at the start of the diet, because of the severe restriction of calories needed simply to maintain the weight.

Avalon's a tall gal, so she probably had a lot of glycogen in those long, long legs! (Hi Avalon, long time!).

Hello . I remember you my name was classykaren. This is not your fault. This is a wonderful fast diet for weight loss but not for maintenance. That is my opinion. It doesn't even make sense now you can add all the carbs. I think I will go to the carbohydrates addicts or some other lower carb diet. Something that will help with insulin spiking and reduce carb cravings. The diet is excellent but everyone complains ab out their maintenance plan.

The point is to NOT add all the carbs back. I'm 4.5 years in maintenance. Adding back some healthy fruit, starchy veg, and dairy doesn't have to sidetrack you. I still do about 100 g carbs a day. I just choose not to eat most graine/gf bread and don't touch sweets at all and I do eat more fats including cheese and avocados and nuts.
Hi to old 3FC friends!

Good luck! I used IP to get to goal & had a couple of successful reboots. I had to abandon it though because it induced bingeing. Some people don't have this problem, but judging from this forum, many do have this issue. Last time I looked at their website, they said it isn't recommended for people with a tendency to binge. I was not aware I had that tendency until IP.
