Question Self Discipline???????

Dear Beach Buddies...

Just had to share an observation I have been making
lately. Have you ever watched people who have never had a
real weight problem, and how they just naturally limit
themselves to certain amounts of foods?

I guess this has become more obvious to me lately
because I am trying so hard to change some poor habits
with SBD. (Aren't we all!!!)

For example, my husband doesn't have the greatest
eating habits, but this is what I've seen him doing:

.......measuring out his peanuts
.......limiting himself to only 2 cookies
.......only having small portions at meals

These things he does automatically, and has always
done.
I am trying so hard to be in control, and to make the
choices.

This is why I am doing the SBD WOE...to be in
control of myself, and to make wise health choices!

Enough of my philosophical thinking...
and back to counting my peanuts!! ~Sharon

ya know Sharon...that's a great observation...I've had the same one lately..
That's because food does not rule their lives....they eat to live

I...on the other hand....live to eat
That's the problem....I don't know what "full" is..or what "real hunger" is....I can eat no matter what..

I have noticed, however, that eating as I do now...I'm starting to experience "full" and the ability to sometimes (not always yet) leave something on my plate.

It's a learning process ....someday we will be there too Sharon..

This is a great example of "thin thinking!" In the Boot Camp Challenge next week I think we'll be talking about that very subject, so join us!

You're right, Deets.
My Dad is that way. He'll buy himself a chocolate bar, eat half, and put the other half in the fridge. He'll remember it's there about a week later. If he gains five pounds, he's "concerned", and takes it off right away. Why can't I be like that!?!?

You know what DiDi, Ellis, and Frannymae?

We're all going to learn these good habits together! Sort of like teamwork. How's that sound?

It's nice to have someone else to go through all these
changes with!!

Have a super Friday evening!

I know exactly what you all mean!! A lot of thin people definitely do think differently than heavy people. An example.....I was at an out-of-state week-long meeting with several women from work, and one evening we all went out to a restaurant known for it's decadent desserts. We decided to skip the food and just order dessert, which we all did, with one exception. The rail thin girl, the thinnest of the group, ordered a plate of vegetables instead of the rich indulgences we all were ordering. Her reason.....she likes vegetables better than desserts!! You could have knocked me off the chair with a feather! I'd never even heard of that before, much less thought that someone would really feel that way.

Learning to think like a thin person is a fabulous plan for next week's boot camp! I can't wait to get started.
