Default When you have a LOT to lose...

Hi all! Looking for tips, advice, and encouragement.

How do you stay motivated when that final goal weight feels so far away??

I gained 70 pounds in 3 years... I'm down about 50 pounds now, 20 away from my old weight, and still 80 pounds away from where my doctor says I should be.

People are commenting on the weight loss so far. I feel like I should be happier with my progress - I have worked hard to make it this far.

I still feel discouraged though. Im still heavier than before, and once I'm back to 220 lbs (the weight I hovered at for years) I'm STILL too big. It seems like it'll be forever until I'm finally at that weight where I'm not "fat" anymore. I hate that I don't feel good enough on a daily basis, and I can't live like this with such negativity towards myself.

What has helped you all to remain kind to yourselves??

There's an excellent documentary called Embrace on Netflix that might help with this. I wish we could all love our bodies at every weight--they've served us well.

I know how daunting it can be. I’m just about at goal and sometimes it seems surreal. I knew I would reach it one day but, looking back, I thought I would never get here.

My advice would be, as cliche as it sounds, take it pound by pound. Know it won’t happen overnight, there will be set backs but if you’re determined you will get there. The time will pass either way, might as well make it count.

Good luck!
