Good morning all. My bum knee is causing trouble and I have to use my old lady walker today so no housecleaning for me today. I did do my daily chores and did a load of laundry, but could do that stuff sitting down for the most part.

I decided since walking hurts I’d work on sewing together the squares I knitted for my bff’s birthday. It’s a pretty huge blanket and is slow going. Each square is 50x60 stitches and there are 49 squares. I am sewing on the second row. These have a front and a back so you have to be careful not to screw them up.

We got a notice on Friday Jack’s credit card got hacked so we were clearing that all up. They only sent us a notice when the number was tried at a gas station. They had to have stolen the info then made a card to use as the other three charges were three different days at Wendys for about $25 each. I had made the payment on Friday and the charges were not there so don't know what happened. I got the new card today so that’s taken care of.

I apologize if there are wrong or absent letters in words. Ever since the last update our Ipad keyboards act up and skip letters or put in extras, all kinds of stuff. Drives me nuts.

Sandy: Hope you’re not underneath a pile of snow!

Jean: Have a wonderful time! Sooner or later I will get everything cleared out here too.

Have a good week everyone.

Good Afternoon! We had snow all morning, guessing 4-5” of the lovely stuff. It has stopped now and the sun is peeking through the clouds. Counting went fast at church and we balanced the first time. I dropped the gift shop checkbook, bank deposit bag, and an invoice check off at the hospital on my way home. Done with that for the next two weeks. Bob was home early for lunch and had an appt. so left as soon as he was done eating, no nap today. He plans to come home early and shovel snow. I have a couple loads of laundry to do and will finish putting my clothes together.

Sandy, thank you for the vacation well wishes.

“Gma,” the blanket you are sewing together is one that you knitted, right? For some reason I thought you had finished it and mailed it off. Maybe a different blanket? Doesn’t your iPad show a choice of words it thinks you might use? Mine are right above the top row of letters. I have trouble with capital letters because I type too fast and sometimes hit the capital arrow. I probably will never be able to type on a standard keyboard like I used to. I’m sorry about the credit card hack. I’ve been debating about taking my debit card this time, thinking I will leave it home. I am getting credit card offers in the mail all of a sudden. I hope your knee is feeling better. Thank you for the wonderful time wishes, I am ready!

I have a dishwasher to unload and towels to fold so better moving. Hope you all enjoy a marvelous Monday!

Good morning. Taking a breather before I tackle the bathroom. I am waiting to do floors until tomorrow because we are supposed too get rain and I have a bunch of boxes that are in the house because of the rain. I will tackle them tomorrow.

I have waxing on Thursday afternoon so think I’ll go get my nails done the morning. Friday I’ll clean the upstairs bathrooms again then it is shopping weekend.

The good ole government did a number on us. As I told you before, there was an overpayment and we got a letter saying they’d take it out in March. Yesterday, he got a letter saying they were recouping it next week! Good thing we have the money to cover.

Jean: Yes, the words pop up, but I’ve had them freeze and not pop up onto the posting. No it’s the same blanket. I have been remiss getting it finished. I get bored. Hope the snow doesn’t impede getting out of the airport and traveling. Those whales are waiting for you!

Have a good afternoon.

Good morning. We had a big thunderstorm last evening and some areas even got hail. That missed us though. This morning it is chilly but looks to be dry.

I am going to tackle the sweeping and mopping downstairs as Jack took out all those boxes to the trash as today is trash day. We shouldn't have anything delivered for a couple of days.

I have been thinking of my children and grandsons a lot the last few days. I know my daughter comes in here and reads the posts, but I don't know if she will ever understand any position but hers. She pushes and pushes when she wants her point across until she makes us angry then when we push back she blows up. I haven't seen my grandson that lives across town since Christmas time of 2016. She has told us we can never speak to any of them again. He graduates in May of this year and she is getting tickets for us, but don't know how that will go. Her brother and sil listen to her so just assume we have done something horrific so they are at arms length with us. Gals, I am just too tired to fight anymore. All I can do is pray and I do that everyday. I can't take the behavior anymore and I am not going to just lay down and let her run over me. When her dad defends/protects me then it usually gets ugly like it did the last time.

My best friend got to come home yesterday so that is great. I just hope the people that are living there don't expect anything from her. She needs rest and quiet and the woman and her daughter fight loudly and long.

Better check out some breakfast. Have a great day!

Good morning from good ol' Kentucky! It's 19 degrees as I type, warming up to 32 later today. Heat wave!

GMA: That blanket you're making is a huge undertaking! I'm sure your friend will love it. A friend of mine made quilts all the time & I was fortunate enough to receive one. She passed away a couple of years ago & I really cherish that quilt! Glad your friend got home from the hospital. I'm so sorry you're estranged from your family. I'll keep you all in my prayers. How's your knee doing? We got a light dusting of snow....mostly ice which I hate. Hope Jean's thinking of us!

I have lots to do around here so better get to it. Have a marvelous day!

Greetings from Maui! Good flights but bad night of multiple leg cramps last night. There is NO, I repeat NO snow! It is 70 degrees and very windy. The whale watch trip was a bust because they tend to stay below the surface on windy days. We did see a few from a distance and got a salt water shower from the wind. We had a new captain and naturalist; the captain wasn’t very assertive about approaching the whales we did see.

“Gma,” maybe someday your kids will grow up and figure out there are two sides to every situation. It’s too bad Thomas doesn’t keep in touch with you.

Sandy, I hate the ice too! Be careful! “Home” is under a snow/winter weather alert today and tomorrow.

Now on to the rest of the day!

Good morning to you all. It is chilly this morning, but it did get up to about 50 yesterday. Supposed to be nice until Sunday then going to rain and be cold during the day. Overall though it looks like we are on a warming trend and since it is February, it may stay and the temps not go down except overnight.

Boy I must be bad. First, my stylist texted me two days ago and said she was taking a leave of absence so I would have to get someone to take over my appointments. I went with the owner as she is slick and does one heck of a job. Then yesterday the gal that does my waxing said she put in her two weeks. Her last day is next Friday. She is starting her own business. Well, I would have gone with her except I bought a buy 6 months get three just in December so will have to use someone else until it runs out. It takes a long time for me as I only go every 8 weeks not four. We got the giggles big time yesterday. She is around my son's age so not super young. Anyway I get my nose done about every 3 months and yesterday was it. If you have never had this done, it is not pleasant. The stick a wad of hot wax on a stick, put it up your nose, squeeze the nostril together, wait a bit then yank it out. So, she did my right nostril, then went to do the left. She had the wax all up in my nose and noticed the corner up high in my right nostril had some hair so she went back and did it at the same time. Here I am laying on the bed with two sticks sticking out of my nose like a rhino. I started laughing and said don't you dare take a picture or I will never come see you again. She was laughing by this time and told me she was tempted.

I am finally getting another of my sleep shirts today. They still owe me one. I like these because they have a breast pocket. I put Kleenex, my ear bud, etc in it when I am in bed. When the head is cranked up, it is tough to reach the nightstand so I put them in my pocket. I have one of those things that slides between the mattress and the base with pockets for my Ipad, sleep mask and such, but the little stuff I like to put in the pocket. I can't remember what patterns I bought. I couldn't get the really cute ones as they were sold out. So far I have a polar bear.

Sandy: My knee is what it is. It hurts all the time and today it shoots pain when I try to bend it back like getting out of a chair or something. Summer it isn't so bad, but winter is a killer. I just deal with it for the most part, but sometimes it is so bad I can hardly walk. Frankly, I have been known to pee my pants if it is particularly a bad day trying to get to the bathroom even with the walker. I just grin and bear it and try to see the humor in it. Susan makes beautiful quilts. I saw a quilt yesterday that was just exquisite. Susan had posted it on FB and this lady had something like 72,000 pieces in it. It was a huge quilt of an native American woman. It was gorgeous. She said she had 15 spools of thread and something like 30 yards of fabric in it. I still have the quilt my grandmother made for my son when he was born and he is 44 years old. It is a little raggedy but I will cherish it always.

Jean: Hope you have a better whale watching today. What do you do for your leg cramps? Was it from sitting in an airline seat so long?? Hope you feel much better now and no more problems.

Everyone have a good weekend. We have commissary weekend this weekend. Goody.

Good Evening! It has been a long day! Another very windy day and not all that warm. We had the same boat captain as yesterday along with two trainees on board. We can only get so close to the whales but these people have no clue what the length of a football field looks like. Again we didn’t see many whales. Bob maintains if she really knew how to drive a boat against the waves, and into the wind, we wouldn’t have gotten wet. As it was we were drenched to the point we dripped water as we got off the boat. We headed back to the condo to get rid of the salt, get dry clothes, and warm up.

“Gma,” I bought some otc stuff for leg cramps at Walgreens and ate a banana last night. I didn’t have leg cramps but had to get up a couple times for the bathroom. I’m hoping for neither one tonight! Three of us had leg cramps the first night here so I’m guessing we should have walked more on the plane. One guy seemed to be doing laps all the way around. There were 260 people on board according to the chart.

I’m off to bed!

A rainy Sat here.....but that's better than snow!

GMA: Yeah, when my knee's really bothering me, I've had a problem making it to the bathroom on time! Ouch on getting the nose hair done! It's bad enough getting my eyebrows waxed... but nose hair?? You're a brave woman!

Jean: How disappointing that you haven't seen any whales yet! I certainly wouldn't like getting soaked either. What if you were planning to go somewhere afterwards?

Nothing exciting going on around here. I need to do some shopping online for a new Dutch oven. Mine's over 30 yrs old & things are starting to stick. Other than that...I see a nap in my future!

Good afternoon. Cold and windy here this morning and I had to get out in it. I broke a nail yesterday so went and got it repaired (he wouldn’t take money for it) and then did a bit of shopping. I found a pepper steak recipe on FB so bought the meat and peppers to try it. It’s done in the crockpot.

We did commissary shopping then in the early evening went to our favorite italian place.

Jean: Gosh I’m sorry you haven’t had good luck with your whale watching and the weather has been cool. That is definitely not what you want on vacation. I bought some Osteo Biflex to see if that that will help with the arthritis pain. Hopefully this week will be better for you guys.

Sandy: I had a Presto griddle that didn’t last long. We make mostly pancakes and stuff like that and it started sticking pretty quickly. I got fed up and bought a Cuisanart double sided, griddle/grill. We shall see how it does. Irritates me when stuff doesn’t last.

Well the dryer just went off so I better get to it. Have a good afternoon.

Good Afternoon! It’s sunny, 75 degrees, and the usual breeze blowing. Wonderful! Last night we ate an Italian restaurant and while we were waiting for the third couple, we walked to the curb to take pictures of a palm tree that none of us had ever seen the shape before. We walked by a pet store and there was a little cat sitting by the door looking out. Her tag said her name was Bella. Then on our way back there was another cat sitting on a window sill, his name was Jonathan. After we finished eating I walked back to see if they were still there but there was a third cat. It was a long haired cat, and eating, so I couldn’t see the name. Now I wonder if they roam the store during business hours. I don’t suppose I can talk fast enough to go back when they are open.

Sandy, we have seen whales each time we’ve been out in the boat. It’s just the new captains aren’t as good at finding them and then don’t get as close as they could. When it is very windy they tend to stay below the surface. Today was much better! There was a group of five; a female in the lead, her main escort (male) right behind her, followed by at least three more males trying to oust the lead male. The males will get pretty aggressive, 40 tons apiece isn’t something to get too close to when they are mad. The goal is to mate with the female. Because of her size the naturalist thought she was probably too young yet. When you are as wet as we were you just plan to go home and change before doing anything else.

“Gma,” pepper steak sounds good! Let us know how it turned out. We stocked up on bananas and so far so good with the leg cramps. I have had two really good nights of sleep. We have two double beds in our room and I finally moved to the other bed. Bob tosses ‘n turns with his sore shoulder and kept running into me. We never did run into my doctor and his nurse, they are back home in the land of snow and cold. I have lab work the week after we get home and am going to ask for Plan B on my shoulder. It’s stiff in the morning, fine during the day, and aches at night. I just got a text from Beth and the speaker we gave Maddy for Christmas broke. Of course the return date has gone by. I told her I’d order another one, or she can, and I will pay for it. The reviews on it were all good when I ordered it.

We are trying to decide where to go for supper. I’m voting for pizza but think we will end up at a nearby restaurant. Everyone else really likes it, me not so much. Enjoy your evening!

Good morning! I am going to try this for a third time. I have lost two posts already. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! It is rainy here today but in the 60's so I am ok with that. I am not going out anyway so I don't care.

Well after sewing two of the blanket strips, I thought they looked tacky so am tearing all of it out and will use the colors on another blanket down the road. For now, I started a new chevron blanket in pinks, purples, and grays. I may not get it done before her birthday again this year, but with her new sweater, her surprise birthday party and our surprise announcement for her, I doubt she will even notice.

I have most of her birthday party stuff ready for May. I did the supposed letter from Royal Caribbean yesterday that says "congratulations!" It goes on to say she won an all expense paid vacation, etc, etc. I think it turned out pretty cute. I have all her gifts ready except for bagging and or wrapping them for her "Let's Make a Deal" game Jack is going to play. I have 8 gift cards to give out for door prizes for her family and bought some cute little folding note cards that I am going to put them in and tape the sides so they won't fall out. I have our hotel reservations all made too. I contacted Olive Garden there in town and made arrangements for the lunch. I will go into the supermarket on Thursday when we get into town and order the cupcakes then pick them up Saturday morning before the luncheon and get a couple birthday balloons. Her daughter is supposed to bring her a bit late so everybody will be there to surprise her.

I paid a couple bills this morning and started the new blanket. I also did two loads of laundry so am going to be lazy the rest of the day. I am making sloppy joes for dinner tonight and that is always easy as Jack likes chips with them.

Jean: The pepper steak was flat tasting. I told Jack I think next time I will marinate the meat in the sauce for 24 hours before I fix it and fix it in my wok instead of the crockpot. I think it needs to marinate for the flavors to get in the beef. Glad you got to see whales finally. I have had pretty good luck ordering stuff online. I mean some stuff doesn't fit or I find I don't like it, but the only thing I seem to have to order frequently are the darn lightening cable for the IPhone an Ipad. I have bought them at Apple, where they are more expensive and not had any better luck then buying them on Amazon so went back to Amazon. Mine don't last long because being left handed I turn my Ipad around so the button is on the left and that puts strain on the cable. I buy long cables so I can have a good length on the cable from the plug in, but then they don't work as well.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good afternoon! I almost typed "morning" but glanced at the clock & noticed the time. Rainy day here!

GMA: Oh that pepper steak sounded so good. Sorry it was a disappointment but you're probably right about marinating it next time. Still waiting for my new Dutch oven to arrive. Should be here today. I ordered one by Calphalon. My other one was Club Aluminum which was popular when I got it 30+ years ago. It's held up really well, but recently starting sticking. Your birthday surprise for your friend sounds wonderful! She's going to love every minute. Love the colors for the chevron blanket!

Jean: Glad you got to see some whales. How cute about the cats. I love the name Bella. Too bad about Maddie's speaker. Hope you can replace it.

We took our grandson out to dinner for his birthday Mon evening. He chose his favorite Mexican place, which was very good. We had never been there. Well, Bill doesn't like Mexican food anyway, but he ordered steak & shrimp so he was happy. Anyway, you'll never guess what I tried....fried cactus! It's an appetizer & my grandson ordered it. His mom says he loves it! You get 2 round pieces....about the size of a CD I guess. He cut me off a little piece for me to tray. It was kind of chewy & didn't have much taste. I'd never order it myself, but at least I can I tried it! That boy is not a picky eater & loves everything!

Well, I'm off to switch loads in the laundry. Have a wonderful day.
