New here! Happy ending in progress...
I've never been part of an online weight loss forum, but at this point in my nutrition journey I'm looking to share my journey and learn about others'. I
To begin, it has taken me almost all of 2017 to lose 10 pounds! Like most of my journey, this year has been up down and all around. However, this year I took a different approach. Instead of seeing my inconsistency as mere lack of self-control, I dug to the root of my inconsistency and realized it was a set of bad habits birthed from stress. I have been an emotional eater for years and it's risen to dangerous heights in the last two years.
I am 5'5" and hit an all time high of 158 pounds last year
A healthy weight for my height is 135, although I am more comfortable with 140 for my body type, especially since I lift weights. Nevertheless, this year has been the year of retraining myself in my relationship with food, my body, and my mind. It has been the hardest thing I've ever done... That is why when I think about these 8 pounds that I've lost (4 of which were lost THIS month), I'm extremely proud bc I know the work it has taken this year to slowly wean myself off bad habits and transfer to new ones. I'm currently in the transfer stage. I've trained myself off bad eating and stress management habits at about 80%. Meaning, more often than not, now, I am responding to stress in a healthy way. This means less sugar and processed food; more working out and nutritional remedies. This past Thanksgiving week I indulged in a few desserts and comfort foods, but I made sure to get in some of my nutritional needs as well. One day I'll be able to go on holiday or make it through the holiday season with a treat here and there and I look forward to it! But, for now, I'm enjoying the progress of my transition and I know that this method is helping me to build habits with longevity for a permanent change. Thanks for having me! P.S. Intermittent fasting and loosely tracking my macros has worked wonders for me in helping to maintain proper nutrition and discipline.
Jan. 2017 158
May 2017 156.6
July 2017 151.4
Oct. 2017 154.8
Oct. 2017 152.4
Nov.2017 150.8
Nov. 22 148.2
My goal weight is 140. I'm confident that in the 6 remaining weeks of this year I will meet at least 3-5 pounds of that goal. Could be more, but I'm focusing on nutritional and fitness consistency and healthy stress management.
