Default 300+ Chat Thread September, 2017

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us!

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I was MIA but my house all of a sudden got full and it has kept me on my toes. Hopefully by Tuesday things will get back to normal.

Anniemaxx 40 pounds down!!! So happy for you! Very interesting to read about the cheat days. I for one always appreciate that you share with us what you are learning. Thank you! I like to have a special meal but have let go of the whole cheat day. Also a special meal can now have a lot of delicious healthy foods.

Unapologetic Lover I think September is the month you will get under 300. When we cheat we are only harming our efforts to get healthy. You can do this. One day at a time.

Sweetcakes our Warrior Woman, how are you doing? Are you getting adjusted to the kids being away temporarily? (Trust me it is temporary.) I love your reward goal for the next 4 months. Does Strawberry Shortcakes come in a warrior/exercise outfit?

Sencha I find that having a house with healthy grab and go snacks very important to prevent us from diving into that bag of chips. I like pistachios, almonds, string cheese and apples. The nuts and apples are great for taking to class. Eating less on those out of control days is a great improvement and a necessary step on this journey.

Hi to everyone else. Please join us. Posting often makes the pounds come off sooner.

These first months of my restart I have been focusing on moving the scale down, learning my triggers whether they be emotional, hormonal, physical, (not enough sleep) basically paying attention to all things that evolve around my eating.
I now feel motivated to also focus on my eating healthier and exercising to improve my health.
I am so very grateful for all of you that post here because I do so much better when I am part of a support group.

Ubee, you're right, healthy grab and go snacks are very important. I've got some string cheese and some very tasty apples now. I've also learned that even though my eating is under control when I have healthy food planned for the day and available, I just can't have snack food in the house, or even get reasonable servings of junk food, because it triggers those horrible cravings. I also learned that I have to have a little snack after my night class because if I don't, I'm waaay too hungry the next morning, which throws off my entire day.

My doctor put me on Provera for a few days to try to start my period (I have PCOS), and I can definitely tell that it's having an effect on my cravings (for the worse). I finished with it last night, so hopefully the cravings will ease up the next few days.

Anniemaxx your 4 months until 2018 has reminded me that I would like to weigh 212.5 or less by then. That is a little over 5.5 pounds every month until then. What about you? Do you have a goal you would like to reach by then? It doesn't have to be a number on the scale.

Sencha there are certain foods that I can not have in the house. Yesterday I announced that French onion dip is no longer allowed in our home.
Hormones are the worst for me. Good luck and check in for encouragement. I wish I had some advice after all these years of experience but I am still trying to figure it out.

ubee I'd like to get to 222 lbs. It know its lofty but I think I can make it because I am a little more active. Let's do it girl. I need a no BS accountability partner. I can be one for you.
Who is with us and will be able to take a n BS approach. No excuses or reasons and we will see results.
Sencha Girl I know you want this. I can hear it in your posts. Under 300 by the end of the year??? What are you willing to give up for this???
Sweetcakes you should be the exercise accountability coach. I will make a commitment to exercise 4 times a week at least.

Come on friends, who is in??

Post your weight as of right now or this morning. No waiting for the morning or for dinner or until you pee. (I know all those excuses)
So I am 268 - 9/4

anniemaxx, I'm sure I will make under 300 by the end of the year. I'm at 315.2 right now, and going by the last two months, I'm losing about 7 pounds a month. I'm planning my meals for the month, and I will meal prep every week. My calorie goal for each day is under 1600, with no more than 45% of that coming from carbs, and no pasta, meat or refined grains. Giving up pasta and meat aren't a big deal to me, although pasta is an easy meal. I'm willing to put forth more effort in planning and preparing my meals if it means I'll keep losing. My other goal is to start weight lifting at the beginning of October. My clothes are getting looser and I want to be "swimming" in them by this time next year. I've got my list of reasons to lose weight, and I'm adding to it. I will read it at least once a day, and definitely when I'm experiencing cravings. I will NOT let my hormones get the best of me!

Sencha love your enthusiasm! Your WOE sounds very healthy. I am thinking by next year instead of swimming in your clothes they will be falling off.
Anniemaxx I know your goal is not too lofty for you. Go get em tiger! With all the Irma talk please stay safe.

My weight is 237 on 9/07 so I can better get it moving back down if I want to be 212.5 by New Years.

Ubee, The reason I chose this way of eating is because I found that a vegan diet (I'm cutting out other animal foods too, except for milk in my tea) is the best diet for PCOS, and it should help with weight loss, too, as long as I'm not eating vegan "junk food" like chips and things.

My clothes are continuing to get looser. I'm not going to weight until my TOTM is over, but I put on one of my shirts from last fall, and it is definitely much looser than it used to be. My husband can see the difference, too, compared to a picture from a few years ago.

Sencha I had never read that about PCOs and vegan diets. Smart for not weighing after TOM.

I tried on a winter jacket that I had bought last year when it was too small for me. It fit!!!

Gotta run mom duty is calling...

Ubee, congratulations on your jacket fitting! What I love is when my winter coat, which I bought when I weighed more than I do now, gets really big and roomy on me. It stays warm because it's down-filled, so I don't mind waiting until I lose a considerable amount of weight to buy a new one.

Yesterday was a good day for me. My stomach's been a little queasy this time around, so I haven't been eating as much. I have my meals planned out for the month, now I just need to find enough containers for a week's worth. Tupperware goes missing like crazy around here. I don't know where it goes, but it's gone!

powerbear, I see that your current weight is 290. What did you do to lose 18 pounds in a month? Also, the motivation from 3FC has really been helping me with my weight loss. You're in the right place!

portion control. This has all ways been hard for me

eating very few processed foods.

limiting soft drinks to 1 a week

biking I try to spend 30+ minutes doing this atleast 5 days a week

after biking I do a strange exercise routine in my yard. I basically carry cinder blocks back and worth for another 15 minutes

a small bit of weight training and body weigh

powerbear, I'd say you've got a pretty impressive exercise routine, and that you're getting a lot more strength training than you think by carrying those cinder blocks around! Portion control can be hard. Do you measure/weigh your food before you eat? Remember, if you're hungry, you can fill up on veggies and some fruits for just a few extra calories. I'm also trying to avoid processed foods. I have to avoid soft drinks completely unless they're diet, and I'm trying to avoid artificial sweeteners as well.
