Also, has anyone extended phase 1 beyond the 2 weeks. If so, how and what did you do? I know I read you definitely need to exercise more. I am trying to do 20 min on treadmill each morning but I am sure that's not enough. Just guess I am really unsure of what to start adding for phase 2 and still continue to lose. Advice needed badly!!!!!!!!!
I think almost everyone has extended Phase I a week, then goes into what we all call Phase 1.5 ... maybe adding one carb a day. I think the best choice for a first carb is an apple, mainly because they have fiber. I started Phase II a few weeks ago and have only lost about 3 pounds (after loosing 10 lbs in phase I) but the book says by Phase II it should be only a pound a week.
Try staying in Phase I another week if you're not happy with your progress to date, then add a carb a day for a week and see how you do (just make sure to stick to the allowed carbs list for Phase II). Everyone stresses starting Phase II.
And as you probably know, 20 minutes is a good start if you aren't doing any exercise at all, but after a week or two doing 20 minutes you'll need to add more time ... your body is going to adjust to 20 minutes pretty quickly.
