This is our Victoria Day Holiday weekend and, despite the late spring and rain, we now believe summer will come in The Great White North. Apple trees in bloom and strands of Bleeding Heart are today's decor and the Mill re-opens.
I will be doing some volunteering at the Mill this summer but it sure is great not to be on the Board! The AGM in late June will be the official end although I'll stay on some of the fun committees and will be doing tours off and on or by appointment. First job for opening today is to drive through the lovely countryside to pick up bread for sale - everybody else is afraid of Margo's three huge dogs who seem to adore me and run down the lane to meet my car. I'll hang around until we are officially open, not in costume, and then come home. (Bruce is off to Williamstown to orient some new musicians so the rest of my day is clear.) I plan to dead-head some daffodils and relax with my two furrries in the sun on the back deck - very important since rain is predicted tomorrow.
When sister Joan was here yesterday to tackle the studio sorting, she remarked that I needed some de-stress time so that will go on my daily plan this week. Not sure how that will work out since Bruce seems to say "yes" to most requests he gets and wants me there. I guess I need to be tougher and say "No" to things like funerals for folks I don't even know and some hospital calls. - getting the Fair schoolwork entries gathered, sorted and judged should be my June priority but not until June.
Time to gird my loins and get this day cranked up. Enjoy the weekend!
I'm just sitting inside with a cup of coffee. It's a little too cold outside at this point. I did go out and get the Hummingbird feed her and thought you had and the birds are eating already.
My first trip is to take mom to her breakfast meeting at 7:30 in at 10 o'clock I go up and once again meet with the disruptive tenants.
My back is bugging me a little bit and it doesn't look like it will be thawed enough to remove broken branches so I will just work in the house today. Back to work tomorrow.
Good morning, chicks. It is sunny and will only be int he 60s today so it is a perfect day to work outside. Now that DH has finished mowing I need to do a little raking and then will putter in the various gardens.
Debbie, sounds like you could use a day inside; hope you feel better soon.
Ruth, it must be a juggle to merge schedules with someone who is just as busy as you! Have a good day.
More storms moved thru early this morning with more to come later this afternoon, so deck painting is off and we will go to Art in the park during the break. My back is feeling a bit tight this morning, so did some yoga and hopefully the walking around looking at art will help as well.
Ruth I agree with Beth it has to be hard to merge two busy schedules, hopefully you will build de stress time into your schedule Enjoy the opening of the Mill
Debbie sorry you have to deal with disruptive tenants again, hope your back feels better and it warms up
Good morning a quick check in from work before I move to my next project.
Debbie sorry to hear you are having problems with your back and the tenants! Feel better soon!
Ruth merging schedules can be quite the challenge. Sometimes you need to say no and take care of yourself. Im sure Bruce will understand.
Beth it is really nice here too. Enjoy your garden time. With all the rain we had mine looks like a jungle!
Pearlrose hope yoga does the trick!
Nothing new, planned or exciting here. Just muttering through the daily grind. I do see a ride in my after work plans. Nice that I don't need to be up early tomorrow. I probably will go to Joe's tomorrow. Have a great day.
Hi chicks, (I LOVE that name) lol
I didn't get my food in today or veggies was too busy and did not plan well. I was not hungry though...amazing how no sugar and bread decrease my appetite. I love this WOE.
B scrambled eggs with peppers, mushrooms, onions and lean turkey sausage
S string cheese and celery sticks
L didn't have it
S 1 cup of beans
Dinner 4 oz chicken breast on top of large salad with 2 tbsp oil and vinegar.
Water 36 oz
From memory when I did SB successfully in 2006....(which was before the menopause metabolism wrecker) I didn't lose if I didn't get my veggies in and water. Also if I did all the extras that are allowed all the time. But I think SF jello with a dollop of SF cool whip is legal for a dessert in P1,,,,is it not?
I will get all the names eventually. Thanks for the warm welcome :-)

Well the rain has finally left for a bit, it's DH birthday today so we will be going to Six Flags, I am nursing my back/hip, yoga helped yesterday morning but then later just bend down to do something and twing felt my back go out of whack, same side as 2 years ago but not as bad since it did not go to the front of my leg this time. So I have been nursing it since yesterday doing mild back exercises and icing. It doesn't hurt to walk but I will take breaks today as well. I think my body is breaking down in my old age lol. I have an MRI scheduled tomorrow for my left arm- I pulled something when I was packing up all of the stuff when carpet got installed and has not gotten better but it is a weird pain it comes and goes (occasionally) so thinking maybe tennis elbow.
What is on your plans today everybody.
Horsechick yes sf jello is allowed on phase 1- just make sure your getting enough calories in and eating all of your meals and snacks.
Good morning from cloudy and coolish Delta. Showers predicted for the afternoon, alas!
Just back from Church plus coffee and socializing and feel like I've put in a whole day. Tonight we are out to dinner at the home of one of Bruce's colleagues from University and for this I turned down an invitation to a bridal shower and an invitation to a BBQ party! A night of boring TV, my book and early bed would be my preference but it's not to be.
Not much left of the morning but I do plan to deadhead the last patch of daffodils and then tackle deskwork. I have some minutes to finish from a meeting last month since I need to pass them on to the real club secretary. I will do some more "pitch or pack" stuff in the studio room. Sister Joan doesn't come back to continue HER organizing plan until Tuesday morning and I want to be on top of that. (Bruce has been warned to make no plans until after Wednesday night when we go out for the non-dinner that was screwed up last week. He has also been warned to stop making "our" plans until he runs them by me! Wish me luck!)
Hey! The morning just disappeared! Have a great afternoon.
Got up early this morning; DS2 has been visiting this week and wanted to beat traffic. He has an interview tomorrow for a summer job. I went back to sleep for an hour but have now been to get groceries and am doing laundry. Yesterday I planted some annuals in my raised bed and finished turning soil in the veggie garden; my plan is to plant the veggie seedlings I have and then assess what else I need to buy.
Jennifer, hope you have a good day off.
Ruth, good luck getting B to check the schedule with you! I suspect the man might take some reminding to break his habit.
Pearlrose, happy birthday to DH and hope your back feels better soon.
Horsechick, your menu looks on track except I agree with Pearlrose, you don't want to get your calorie intake too low.
I think I will also cut some rhubarb this afternoon; it seems to be growing well and it is a brief season.
