Default Doesn't matter what I eat it's how much?

Does anyone else just eat less instead of eating a lot of healthy foods and still lose weight?

Today, I had pizza, Mountain Dew, and Mac and Cheese, but I still only ate 1,200 calories. I don't eat a lot of sweets, but I just have to eat less, instead of better, to lose weight and keep it off.

I told my doctor, and she agreed with me. Does anyone else find this to be true?

Doesn't matter what you eat as long as the calories equal a deficit. You'll lose weight either way but you will definitely feel better if you eat nutrient dense foods (and your body will thank you later) as opposed to greasy/sugary foods.

Yes, it's true as long as you eat fewer calories you can lose weight and keep it off. However, the foods you choose affect the difficulty of maintaining that calorie deficit. In addition, the quality of your diet has an impact beyond your weight.

Highly processed carbs in pizza crust, mountain dew, and macaroni are less filling than carbs in less processed foods which come along with much more fiber as well as important nutrients. Also, many people find it harder to limit servings of highly palatable processed foods. You may also find that you aren't getting enough healthy fats (cosmetically important for your hair and skin not to mention your health) or protein.

Maybe you could start reading more about nutritious foods and see if you get excited by any of them? Then maybe consider adding some to your diet? Maybe you could start your meal with a veggie or a salad or a veggie-heavy soup. Over time, maybe you could change your mix of choices without eliminating your favorite foods. Especially in the long run, eating less processed foods can be helpful for losing and maintaining weight loss and also in the long run your overall health would benefit by including more nutrients.

Thanks everyone.

I was feeling a little bit under the weather when I woke up, so I went to Panera Bread for lunch, and got half a tomato, basil, and mozzarella flatbread, and half a chicken Cesar salad. I didn't over do it on the calories, but I think it's healthier, then the stuff I ate yesterday.

Hi Harrypotterrocks,

This is true. It does not matter what you eat or when.

If there is a calorie deficit (that still supports your metabolism) you will lose weight and sustainably.
