Starting the new year with a quick work out before I am off to my appointment. Hope to stop by later to catch up. Had an impromptu lunch at my sister's yesterday. Very nice family afternoon with lots of snuggle time with my niece Audrey. Have a great day!
Good morning, Beachers, and welcome to the first week of 2017. The dogs and I spent a peaceful first day of the year, just relaxing and planning. That will end today as I jump back on schedule with coffee at the United Church Hall.
It's become quite the Monday place to be with folks coming in from nearby Villages and also any workers who are around like delivery folk or road crews. It's just coffee and donuts donated by a local bakery and folks just put whatever change they have in the box. My friend Barb initiated and runs it and the money goes to our local food bank.
I do plan to hit the local store today for the usual boring essentials. I just can't get as enthused over buying toilet paper and dish soap as I do over shrimp and prosciutto! I am considering "de-decorating" so Michelle can clean properly on Thursday. On the other hand the tree looks very cheery in the dark mornings.
Good start to the New Year, Jennifer. Impromptu lunches are the best. I need to do that more. (I need to do some work on this old body too!)
Good morning, chicks. I am sipping coffee and making a grocery list since I need to restock the eggs and veggies. We go through food quickly when there is an extra person home. I will leave soon so I can avoid the crowds. When I come back I will run the vacuum and be sure to get in a workout. Guess vacation is coming to a close!!
November and December always seem to fly by with all of the holiday busyness; now I am ready for spring. lol But DH often reminds me not to wish away life; enjoy the day you are living since time will go by quickly enough.
Have a great day, chickies and may your new year be filled with the love and companionship of family and friends!
I slept in this morning since I am off work, I got my 3 mile walk workout in this morning and have laundry going and just finished breakfast. I am going to de decorate today, I will start with outside and then I will do the inside. It is a rainy day here with a high of 50, we are having some crazy weather here. After just one day of op eating, I had a nice swoosh on the scale this morning to go with my withdrawal headache (sweets and diet soda)
Jekel glad you got some snuggle time in with your niece, I wish we lived closer to relatives.
Debbie hope you didn't have to rush around to much this morning
Beth I looked at DD2 school calender wrong, I thought she was going back tomorrow but she doesn't go back until Wednesday, she is happy about the extra day.
Ruth I do like looking at the sparkly tree, it is in the room where I wfh so I can look at it all day but it's got to go today lol.
Pearlrose nice that you can still get a walk in outdoors. Too cold and dreary here for anything outside. I too enjoy looking at the tree, but when it's time, it's time to go lol.
Beth do you go back to work tomorrow?
Ruth I hope you found something exciting at the store. Yes it is very hard to get excited over essentials.
I managed a work out and grocery shopping all before my 9 am ultrasound. Good news two cysts are gone but a new one emerged. Darn hormones errrrrg. Oh well.
I'm at Joe's but I'll be home early as it's back to work tomorrow. Two days off are not enough.....I need to enjoy my last week of quiet and calm. DS moves back in Monday.
I'm feeling tired this morning. It is bitter cold outside. Wish I didn't have to go to work today. Oh well. Yesterday was crazy busy again. Perhaps today will be a little more calm. I'm going to go look and see if there is a phase 1 food for me I could take with me today. I didn't eat anything yesterday at work except for toast
Oh, Debbie! Be sure to eat real food today. You'll need fuel for the cold and for what could be another hectic day.
We are heading into what the weather people are now calling an "event"! We were supposed to wake up to freezing rain but somebody forgot to lower the thermostat and we just have a gentle drizzle. No doubt that will change. I hope not because my cousins are heading to Montreal Airport this afternoon via the throughway and it is a death trap in a snowstorm. Their delightful dog Angus will be here for the two weeks they are gone which will mean three happy dogs in the house. They play almost all the time and just love each other.
My tree is still up but I am going to break with tradition and take it down tomorrow. Michelle comes Thursday and will carry the bins upstairs for me. I have way too much "stuff" and will set aside what we didn't use for a yard sale.
Now for a smoothy. I have to be really careful with food today since I have dinner "date" tonight with Bruce who is anxious to try a fish and chips place in Westport. Sure hope the snow holds off.
The cold air is coming back our way and we might get snow on Thursday. I am wfh today have lots of work to do today so that will keep me busy. I did manage to put away all of the decorations and run the vacuum so house is back to normal. Today saw another swoosh on the scale (almost back to what I was before Holidays) and no more headache, whewhoo.
Debbie maybe work has cottage cheese or some other op food you could eat?
Ruth praying your cousins do not encounter any issues on their way to the airport. Have fun on your date tonight.
Hey chicks. I think I am now fighting off the cold DH had last week....we shall see how it goes. My afternoon snack was cheese and bean crackers so at least that wasn't too bad. I haven't seen a big swoosh but seem to be slowly inching down on the scale.
Ruth, I was secretly hoping for the freezing rain to delay school this morning but no luck. They did cancel the sports practices this afternoon though, so I came home earlier than normal.
Drinking lots of tea and some SF hot cider I found in the cupboard. Hoping this is much ado about nothing.
Ruth sounds like the pups will have fun. Enjoy your dinner date.
Debbie how about hard boiled eggs? They have becomes staple in my life lately. Hope your day wasn't too busy.
Beth hope you are feeling better.
Pearlrose glad you got your whoosh....don't you just love them!!!
Not much on the agenda here. Moved all my exercise goodies out of DS's room. I do need to repair an outlet and get a runner before he comes home. I paid his tuition so no turning back. I planned on riding indoors but had a flat. Hopefully I left the valve open yesterday. If it doesn't hold guess I will change it after work tomorrow. I did manage a cardio workout using my simply fit board.
Time to relax with Coconut before bed. Have a good night.
Good morning. I am so confused over what day it is but I think it's Wednesday. It seems like it's been a very, very long weekend since Christmas Eve!
Ended up cancelling the dinner date and will try again Friday. The roads were way too dangerous so I stayed home and snuggled with the dogs while Mother Nature added another coating of ice. Woke at 4 this a.m. when the salt and sand truck went by and my three fierce guard dogs barked to protect me!
Really need to get it together today although I did de-decorate the kitchen yesterday. When Michelle comes tomorrow, we'll take down the garlands etc. in the diningroom and front parlour. We may also de-bling the Bling Tree but leave it lit until the 6th.
All three dogs are fast asleep again and I just may join them. Have a good Wednesday.
Woke up at 5 this morning and decided to get up and work out and so am already working since I will be leaving early for DD2 Ortho appointment. Tonight is busy, have the appt and then art right after and then we are supposed to go to DS and see his new apartment and puppies and take him and GF out for his BD dinner. Snow is supposed to be coming overnight here and I am supposed to go into work tomorrow but we shall see how much snow we get, I am a wimp for driving in snow (one reason is it takes 2 hours to get home instead of normal 1 hr).
Ruth glad you decided to err on the safe side and stay home last night and snuggle the doggies.
Jekel I guess I missed the fact that DS is moving back in. He decided to go back to school? if so that is awesome
Hi everyone! I'm new here and thinking of just jumping in with you all. I previously lost a bunch of weight on sbd many years ago, and I restarted December 1. I'm doing it this time. No excuses. I'm down 11 lbs so far with a long way to go. There is no end goal for me. This new way of eating isn't a quick fix, it's my long term lifestyle so I figure the weight will go where it's meant to be. But the reality is I want a glass of wine or cocktail from time to time and that's okay. My husband is doing this with me, he's also very good in the kitchen so it doesn't feel as overwhelming.
I made this thai pork with string beans last night that was so good that me, hubby and my daughter all took turns say - wow, this is really good.
I had extensive shoulder surgery a year and a half ago - I was still in a lot of pain, especially when it rains! I knew there was a lot of talk about foods causing inflammation so I've been reading up on that. My snacks many days now is blueberries. I have to say cutting out the crappy food and eating all fresh, homemade food has even made my shoulder feel better. There are a couple things I don't think are great on south beach that I worked hard to quit - fake butter, fake sugar for example. But, a girls got to make some sacrifices for the overall goal. Once I get down, I do intend to switch back to butter and sugar - not a ton, I'm just uncomfortable squirting butter and putting these chemicals in me when I'm eating so clean.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all, I need all the support I can find so I don't bore everyone in real life half to death.
