Default I know its normal but..

The weight fluctuations between weigh ins (the ones i document on my app lol) are driving me crazy.
Ive lost 4.2kilo in 19 days. Im really happy, I'm not hungry and I'm eating well balanced meals 3 times a day with occasional light snacks. I think TOM is coming up too. I know im doing nothing different but the weight can shoot up overnight by a kilo (around 2pound). After reading up on here about the hows and whys its put my mind at ease but i still feel a bit gutted when i can't log a weigh in.
I just wanted to vent that. Sorry lol i have no one else to shout at, no one knows I'm dieting. Xx

Yep, the struggle with water retention is real. But it's really nice when the water weight drops, and you sometimes lose several lbs overnight. Best of luck!

Weight fluctuation is a fact of life. The tide comes in, the tide goes out. You can't be mad at the tide.

Fluctuations suck, but Palestrina is right: it's a fact of life. The main thing to remember is that even though you're up on the scale, you need to keep on plugging along with the healthy eating and exercise.

I have a tendency to feel happy with the weight I am at when I see a large difference on the scale, and get too comfortable eating horribly when I feel good. Then of course I get mad at myself and feel guilty when I step on the scale and it's increased (which of course it will when I eat like crap...).

Vicious cycle, but sticking to it is the main thing. I'm only starting to get back into working out and eating healthy. So fingers crossed we can all keep it up!

Default Thankyou!!

I know its normal (now i do) and i know im still being careful and strict. Its just disheartening.. i have an important event to go to at the end of June 2017. I'm going home to the UK after being away for 2 years, so i really wanna do it. Plus, I'm sure some of you know, airplane seats and thighs are not a comfortable mix.
I'm not giving up. Xx

Definitely don't give up! I'm getting married in June 2017, so I am in the same boat as you! And it's funny- I'm getting married where I grew up, where a moved away from 2.5 years ago. I know the feeling of really wanting to make that change before going back.

Stay strong!

I personally give myself a three pounds wiggle room for this exact reason... I basically count weight in three pound chunks, so 140 is the same as 143. It keeps me from getting discouraged and reminds me that little fluctuations like this are normal. It just depends on TOM for me, if I've peed yet, if I'm thirsty, etc...

It does take a bit longer before I log in the weight because I'm waiting for about a 3lb drop before registering, but at the same time, I personally find it more encouraging to see the bigger number drops

Not saying it's something you have to do, but it helps me.

Default Agreed!!

Thats exactly what i do, i dont want my chart going up and down so i keep working towards the down arrow.
Just been making me think how didficult it must be for those who use slimming world, especially evening groups. It fluctuates so easily, it must be a let down when youve done everything right but still the same or a pound or 2 heavier (according to scales).

I have to weigh myself between 9-11am as soon as I get up and had a pee and brushed my teeth. This morning I was 279.9 while wearing my knickers and a top. For the sake of your post I went and weighed myself again (6hours later). I have had 2 tall glasses of water, a mug of tea, a light breakfast, a light lunch and 2 little chocolates , I have also had a pee twice since weighing this morning. I am now, while wearing Jeggings, a long sleeved top, and my glasses 284.6 . I have put on 4.7lbs of food clothes and water by 2:53 in the afternoon .

I would advise, never weigh yourself after you have ate or drank in the morning, it is just discouraging. I also weigh myself every day (doesn't work for a lot of people), so I know what foods will make me fluctuate. A high sodium meal will make me store water, but the scale will move within 48 hours. I also can't eat pasta without gaining (which I have to work off).

No need to worry about it, as long is your weigh in week from week shows movement

Default Always a morning weigh in.

I do the same, i kind of feel i need to weigh in in each day to keep me motivated. Like, keeping good habits up.
I'm working in kilo now, i was working in pounds in England but australia does everything differently. I think i have a little more than you to lose, maybe another 10pound. I weighed in this morning (its 9.20am here now) and since the 1st of Dec ive lost 4.6kilo - 10.1 pound.
I know it will slow down, but if i could keep up a similar momentum at least till June i would be ecstatic!
I figured, I've picked the worst possible month to start a diet, if i can do christmas without any gain then i can do it. On the bonus, its currently 40degrees here..(104 degrees) i dont really wanna eat much in this heat!

Maybe the scale is not working right?

I have the same issue. I've been around 182 since September. My clothes are a lot looser then they were a couple of weeks ago. I also weigh 3 pounds less at my doctors office with all my clothes on then at home when I weigh myself with no clothes on. I'm suspecting the scale is not accurate.
