Default First time trying intermediate fasting!

So I've done some research about fasting and I want to do the 5:2. Eating Sunday thru Thursday and fasting Thursday and Fridays with lots of water
It's my first day and the hunger is killing me lol. I think I'm going to down a huge glass of water. I'm 22 years old, marries of 4 years and mother to a toddler. I'm currently 250 pounds at 5"5 tall. I've always struggled with me weight but this is the biggest I have ever been. It's mostly in my stomach area because I only wear a lot 16 in jeans and xl/xxl in shirts. I don't get winded or out of breath while shopping... maybe I am still healthy? I love myself no matter what size I am, I just want to be a better example for my little one and my husband.

Default Good luck!

Hello!

I totally understand you when you say you want to be healthier for your kid. I realized that I needed a change in my life because running after my boy, I was tired, aching everywhere, but even at that, I didn't think I was "unhealthy".

I hope it goes well for you — I tried 16/8 and failed miserably — but I have a friend who does 16/8 with great results! She told me it was hard at first, but after settling down around a routine, she barely notices her fasting anymore.

Kizzle - please research "intermittent" fasting more. Fasting 2 days in a row could be dangerous! Generally, 5:2 is fasting a day, eating a few days, then fasting a day. Also, the fast doesn't have to be zero calories. Generally, up to 500 calories is considered ok if you have trouble with zero. Some people have all 500 at dinner, some lunch, some spread the calories out.

I found 5:2 a great way of eating for me. On my fast days, I didn't do more than 400 calories. I rarely did zero. Fast days 120 oz water. On feed days, I tried to stay below 1600. Some who do 5:2 don't limit intake at all on feed days and find success, but I wanted to lose a bit quicker. I also added exercise, but took it easier on the days following a fast.

I also usually think of 5:2 as separating the days. Regardless of the IF approach, I would urge you to try different schedules if your 5:2 doesn't work for you. I currently follow a one meal a day (OMAD, but I started before the acronym) protocol, and I got there gradually by shrinking my eating window until it was just one meal. Previously, I had tried a form of 5:2 and alternate day fasting, but neither of those approaches worked well for me (I was grumpy on fast days and ate too much on feed days). I've been very happy with OMAD. Though I still need to pay a lot of attention to what I'm eating, it's easy to fit a nutritious, delicious, and filling meal into an OMAD calorie budget.

Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!

Best of luck on your journey! I'm glad some people familiar with the plan commented cause I personally couldn't do that plan. My body makes me hella sick when I don't eat...It's like having the flu. Throwing up with a temperature and huge migraines...Not for me.
