Default Compulsive eating/meds/restrictive diet

I have a new issue. I fall asleep for the night pretty early. Between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm. I'm an early riser ( note my name- Earlybirdtoo). The problem is that about a month ago I had to take a round of prednisone for sinusitis. Since then, even tho the meds are finished I have been eating compulsively. It is so out of hand that I have considered getting professional help. I do good all day and at night it is like a light goes off in my head. I start eating after dinner and can't stop. I'm not hungry. I'm eating for another reason. I've tried to pinpoint the reason, and have identified some triggers and emotional issues, ie undue stress, a bit of depression, prednisone side effect.. But, even knowing the issues is not helping me to stop. To add to this problem, I fall asleep early with a very full stomach from gorging myself after dinner and then awake after about an hour and compulsively EAT!!! I've tried preparing healthy snacks for after dinner, but I don't eat them..I crave sugary or crunchy snacks. Mostly SUGAR! I wake up in the morning feeling stuffed and sick to my stomach.
I need to add that I have been on a very restrictive, low carb eating plan for 18 months. I had no problem with appetite or eating healthy and enjoyed it until the prednisone. I lost 52 lbs. and though the last 6 months I have plateaued and not lost any more weight. With the exception of a couple lbs here and there, yo-yo with 2-3 lb.s but have pretty much maintained.
I was wondering if anyone else has had an experience with compulsive eating after taking a medication, and/or after restrictive eating for several months? And if anyone has any suggestions that might help me gain control again? Oh, I'm 65 years young! I'm active.I power walk for 2 hours at least 5 days a week.

What's your last meal before this happens? Could you tweak it so that you have better-balanced blood sugar?
