Good morning! Here we go with that weekend that writes -30- to summer. I can't remember a hotter or more humid three months!
I forced myself to stay awake until 11 last night but still woke before 5. So did the dogs although they didn't stay awake with me.
Today is the last bread day for the Mill and, as soon as it gets light, I'm off for the last pick-up of the year. I sure hope we sell out although any leftover loaves will be turned into seasoned breadcrumbs for Thanksgiving Turkey. I am very, very tired after this summer and am going to be very nice to myself after Monday when we are no longer open to the public for tours. My house, body, family and fiends have been neglected a bit during this busy summer from ****! I'm sure you will all be glad when I stop whining.
I woke up early this morning to the sound of the furnace running! The temperature dipped to 39* overnight and the windows were all open. Needless to say DH turned it off.
Ruth, kudos to you for managing to stay awake last night; I could not keep my eyes open so I gave up and went to bed around 10:00. Don't feel bad about venting; we all need to do it once in a while. You have been a real trooper this summer.
Debbie, hope you are feeling better. Is it tomorrow Kirk returns?
Pearlrose, another concert! How was it?
Jennifer, did you accomplish your "walk with light weights" last night? LOL Glad the swelling from the sting is down.
Today I am going to do a quick grocery run, then laundry and maybe some garden chores. I have boatloads of tomatoes I should process in some way. Maybe I'll make some salsa to have with tacobake this week.
HAHA Beth I actually opted for an in home work out. A quick 20 minutes. I'm trying to concentrate a little more on toning than my cardio (which IMHO is pretty darn good lol). Time to really tone some jiggle!!! I've always been self conscious about jiggling when I walk or wave for that matter. I'm still my harshest critic. Plus this month I have extra incentive with a visit to see my mom. She called yesterday, apparently she has been "irregular" for years and didn't realize it. Geese now I know where I get it from lol. The doctor has her really adding high fiber foods to her meals. She is very proud to report she is now 147! My mom hasn't been under 150 in over 30 years. She is 5'5" and keeps her weight in a healthy range. Seems like maintaining is truly a life long journey. I've been doing squats throughout the day. Only three days into the month and boy am I feeling them lol.
Ruth so glad you are reclaiming your life now that summer is ending. Venting does the soul good. Better to vent then "vent" with a pint of ice cream or a bag of chips. We all need to get things off our chests at times.
We didn't get nearly as cool as you did Beth. But I'll take sleeping with the windows open over AC any day! Come on fall!!! My favorite season.
Nothing exciting for my days off which is just fine by me. Enjoy the nice long weekend, mine starts in a few hours
Never got on here yesterday as we left early to go to Holiday World. It was fun, we left at 5:30 p.m. and got home at 8 p.m. so not too bad of a day. Did lots of walking so that was good. Today we are going to go shopping, DD1 wants to get a dress for a wedding she is going to next weekend.
Ruth this is the place to vent, it's good for the soul sometimes
Beth wow 39 already lowest we have gotten is 57 so far but we are going back up to 90 tomorrow
Jekel I am trying to concentrate on both cardio and toning trying to stay in balance but I definitely got jiggle lol.
Had a productive day yesterday: laundry, groceries, walk, tomato processing. I just pureed the tomatoes and froze them for chili, soups, stews etc. I hate to see them go to waste! I'm excited that my second sowing of lettuce and kale have sprouted.
Not sure what is up today. DS1 came home for the weekend; maybe I can get him to take a short hike with me. And we will probably go out to eat tonight. I will try to stick to steak and salad.
We have another sunny day today as we officially put summer to bed. I don't ever remember a summer so hot and dry and the one we had this year. My garden was weird: the cucumbers were bitter, the rabbits at most of my broccoli, I'm withholding judgement on the Brussel sprouts for a while. We did have lots of tomatoes and perennials.
Today I need to plan meals and make quiche and muffins for the work week's breakfasts. And there's always laundry.
Good morning! It's Labour Day and my summer can now begin. I was tempted to put "Closed for the Season" on the door around 4:30 yesterday but a group of Pokemom-Go folks arrived and we were invaded. Not one of them cared that they were in a National Historic Site. I just can't relate to the cell-phone addicts!
This morning I am going to throw in a couple of loads of laundry and dishes and then go dump some money into the automatic teller at the bank. Then I will go on duty at the Mill for the afternoon. Too bad the booze store is closed or I'd be celebrating with wine! (At the end of October, Ontario will allow some grocery stores to sell wine cider and beer - long time coming!) There is the usual coffee time at the Church and I do have to go to bid farewell to some of our summertime visitors who will be off later to go home to get organized for school.
The village will be quiet for a change until next weekend when we have a motorcycle rally in the park. I'm ignoring the whole thing an letting someone else open the Mill and do the tours. This is the week when I have to get the Fair schoolwork out of the Fair Hall and ready to take back to the schools once I attach the prize money.
Didn't do much of anything yesterday other than going to the Mall. DD1 found her dress on clearance at Macy's and DD2 found part of her Halloween costume she wanted, so progress was made. Last evening, I just read a book and me and DD2 enjoyed quiet time.
Today we are supposed to go to Six Flags, we won't stay but for a few hours so that won't be so bad. Weekend kind of fly by again.
Beth at least you got lots of tomatoes from your garden. This week is full swing back into school mode for you right?
Ruth I am sure you are counting down til this afternoon is finished
