Good Steamy Saturday from Delta. Another hot and humid day ahead but tomorrow will be a major cool-down with a day of rain which is still needed.
A busy day ahead since staff are gone, it's milling day and we are prepping for a super-duper fund-raising dinner starting at 6. I am so glad it's being catered! I'm off to pick up the bread for Mill sales soon and will be working the morning there. Then home mid afternoon for a bit, tiddle up for the dinner, then back by six to start the evening with drinks and yummies in the Mill itself before the dinner proper and entertainment in the Town Hall. I'll actually be sitting at a table with my date, instead of selling tickets and working the cash bar!
We are not doing any clean-up or dishes until tomorrow and I hope everyone turns out for that. I am also on duty in the Mill doing tours on Sunday afternoon. By then things should have cooled down in the Mill making the 3rd floor bearable.
So that's my weekend. Busy but looking forward to a fun evening of "Temperance and Temptation", the theme for the event since the Mill produced booze at the same time the Temperance movement started.
Ruth, thanks for getting us started this weekend. Enjoy your festivities tonight and your date.
I've been up for a bit. It's drizzly out which is good. I can get caught up in the house. I know my mom is going to call at 7 and want a ride to her usual breakfast gathering. Unsaid, but that will require my helping her to dress, brush hair, etc. Other than that I plan to take it easy.
Slept in this morning after the concert, it was good except the screaming girls lol. Been up for a while had breakfast and started laundry. On the agenda for today will be running some errands and cleaning, DH went to Nashville with friends to see Titans football game, he is going through withdrawals since the Rams moved to LA.
Ruth sounds like a busy day enjoy and enjoy your date this evening
Good afternoon! Spent the early morning out weeding while DH was mowing the lawn. This has to be some sort of a record year for getting away without mowing; with the lack of rainfall we have not done it in a month.
Ruth, good thing Mill season is coming to a close. The season sure keeps your busy!
Pearlrose, DH went to see the Bills training camp with DS1 this week. They had a good time.
Debbie, our forecast has rain tomorrow and cool on Monday so I will do inside chores then. I admire you taking care of your Mom; this summer has been a learning experience for me about when the kids take over the parenting role.
It's back to the restaurant this morning. I'm grateful because my food choices have been much better there than at home. I've gone 13 days now without having one bite of anything; not a crust of toast or one single french fry. No meals either I've been bringing my smoothie and a bottle of fresh made apple water from home. I call it Apple water because I put two apples in my vita mix with half gallon of water and drink it throughout the day.
I think I need to remember to put time in my schedule to stop by my moms and put on her compression socks before I leave. Her legs are really swollen and it seems to be helping a lot.
I think my hubby is ready to start thinking about coming home. Unfortunately, he needs to go back across the bay and see what he needs to do at our house. He spent the whole summer at his cousins. It started yesterday morning I guess he got stung several times by hornets while building whatever he was doing. And he didn't get his supplies because nobody wanted to go to town. It will be nice to have him back and it sure got me thinking about getting things caught up around here.
Beth, I'm having to do a weekly mow here in Idaho Springs because I water a good part of the lawn but I won't tell my husband that I think I've only mode once in Glenwood Springs. It should be pretty ratty by now but I think I'll go over Thursday and Friday and get things tidied up. LOL
I will enjoy more coffee and get that smoothie made. Have a great Sunday everyone!
Yesterday me and my DD's went and picked up some pottery that we had painted they came out great and then got some groceries and a few more outfits for DD2 for school and then we went and saw Pete's Dragon, it was cute.
Today I think I am going to tackle power washing the house it really needs it.
Beth we have had to mow more than usual this year- every week we have been getting so much rain by now it normally is about every 3 weeks you need to mow.
Debbie glad your DH is about ready to come home from his visit in Alaska. You have been busy keeping up with everything on your own. Your apple water sounds good.
Whew! Lovely evening last night with not one but two charming men! Not used to the attention but enjoyed it. I was home before 10 and read in bed for a while but, as I reached to turn out the light, the power went off! And then ... wonder of wonders! ... the generator turned on and kept the house in water and light and microwave until just now. Seems like I've been dealing with the generator power issue for years!
We are currently being deluged with much-needed rain. I have to be at the Mill for one this afternoon and plan to get a binding sewn onto a new quilt so I can do hand sewing while I'm there. I always take something traditional to work on in the slow times. Knitting, crocheting, sewing seem to fit into the scheme better than playing with a cellphone in the quiet times.
Girding my loins - make that brain and attitude to get through to 5 PM Labour Day!
