Help!

So, where to begin? I am a huge follower of the South Beach Diet way of living. It's really the only thing that has helped me lose weight and keep it off. I have been on and off it for about 10 years now. When I am off, I gain.

In May of 2013, I was "diagnosed" with sarcoidosis. Though three years later, they no longer know if that's right. My symptoms are: panuveitis, IBS/colitis and reactive arthritis. Are they related? Are they not? Who knows. But after 2 years on high doses of prednisone, I gained so much weight, clocking in at just under 300 pounds. I am back down to a normal weight for me, thanks all due to South Beach. However, like the first time I was on the Beach, I had a very bad IBS/colitis reaction. This time, I was in the hospital for two weeks.

My GI doctor wants me to start and follow the FODMAP diet for 6 weeks. It goes against all I know and love about SBD! So I am having issues wrapping my head around it. Does anyone here follow FODMAP? Have you had success with weight-loss while on it? I'd like to lose another 20 pounds or so but worry with the (though limited) natural sugars and avoiding some of the foods I've grown to love on SBD (avocados pop into my head).
